Hey all my wife has offered to buy me a lens and my main interest area is aircraft (mach loop/airshows) and the budget is £700. Would the above lens be my best bet? Or do you guys have any recommendations? Cheers.

i use this lens and find it very good for the money , i used it at the waddington air show recently and got a few good shots ( well i think so having not long since started with photography) have a look at my flickr all the waddington ones and the moon shot with the 120-400

I'd go for the 150-500, on the basis that no lens is ever long enough  loved mine when I had it, now superceded by a 120-300 f2.8 and 2X ;)

Loved my version, sharp as a pin even at 400mm and the OS really works well. Wish I hadnt sold it really.

Try Camera World, I got mine from there and it would fit your budget, be quick before your wife changes her mind ! LOL.

You can get a Sigma 150-500 OS for just over £600 here http://panamoz.com/index.php/hot-de...m-for-canon-digital-and-film-slr-cameras.html I got mine in january and I preferred the 150-500 to a Canon 100-400 IS L which was around twice the price.

I also got a Sigma 120-400 OS mainly for the wife (but I use it regularly) from the same place here http://panamoz.com/index.php/lens/s...ns-for-sony-digital-and-film-slr-cameras.html and that is a great lens for the money too. I do prefer the 150-500 though, just for that extra bit of reach when neccessary.

I can highly reccommend Panamoz as a dealer as well. I've bought 2 bodies as well as the 2 lenses off them since january and will be ordering a Canon 70-200 2.8 IS L MkII off them very soon.
