Hi guys,

Had a play with a canon 450D today with a Sigma 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 EX DG lens.

to tell you the truth, i wasnt overly impressed with the quality of the pictures. They all seem to look like standard pictures taken with a standard digi camera.

can you offer any experiances with the lens as I was told it was 600.00 pounds worth of kit but the pics didnt seem to show it

I have a siggy 12-24mm lens, and think it's a great lens, crisp , clean and very very wide on a FF camera.

You can get them for around £300 s/h

I have one, I use it a lot on my 5D, more than happy with the image quality and little else has the angle of view

Couple of pics here, maybe not great pictures but sharp.

It serves a purpose for me and fits in well with the rest of my lens line-up, 12-24, 24-70L 70-200L. 100mm macro and works on film, plus full frame and crop digital bodies.

im quite interested in this lens myself for my D3 ... however i have heard that bad vingetting occurs on the D3 with this lens ... is this true .. anyone ?

If you are shooting with a 1.6x camera; investigate the 12-24mm Tokina f/4 ATX lens. I use one of these great lenses and I am very impressed with it. It provides excellent IQ, is built like a tank and should be less expensive than the equivalent Sigma. It also has a constant f/4 aperture which can be very important.

It does vignette at the shorter end of its range. The laws of physics pretty much guarantee that. As to whether it's bad ... that's probably in the eye of the beholder. But if you want to use a 12mm rectilinear lens on your D3, I think it's worth putting up with.

I have used the sigma on my canon 5D and like the lens I got it when I had my 10D. On full frame it is wide! on a croped body just wide I have also used the canon 17-40 and while not printed shots large have been happy with shots taken at the same focal lengh from both lenes while on my 5D.
