Been looking long and hard at this lens, seems to be a reasonable contender for the "Telephoto lens I'm looking for" crown.

Anyone own one/used one? Any comaprisons in size/weight to the 70-200mm f/2.8 I used to have?

Really tempting price from HK just now....

Can't rate this lens highly enough...check out some of my posts nearly all the wildlife shots are taken with this lens.IMO you wont get anything better for the money..I had the sigma 70-200mm 2.8 before this and tbh the f4 is so much better

I think Sigma are releasing a couple of new lenses in April with similar zoom ranges and apertures, but with the addition of optical stabilisation. It might be worth waiting, or atleast doing a bit of research on them before you decide?

That is good to hear, I'm thinking about getting this lens myself. The 300mm f/2.8 is at the top of my shopping list but I'm not sure I can justify all the extra cash for one stop.

Thats exactly what I thought snakeman...the f4 is a awesome bit of kit and alot cheaper and lighter.

By the way the new lenses are not fast glass they are 120-400mm 4.5 5.6 and the new 150-500mm f5-6.3 yes they have os but not very fast
