I'm looking at getting one of these for a trip later in the year and was wondering about quality issues.

I know sigma has varying quality standards so am unsure whether to pay full price for the lens from a shop or whether to risk getting one for £100+ cheaper on ebay.

What is the ratio of good to bad lenses?

Cheers for looking in.

I was dubious about spending £600 on a new sigma due to the reported qc issues when I bought my 70-200 2.8 EX II but im delighted with it. Beautifully built with stunning iq.

That said, I think the 10-20 is more susceptible to the qc issues as this seems to be the lens most of the issues relate to?

if you buy from the right places (I got mine from amazon) Sigma are giving out free extended 3 year warranties at the moment.

Like lots of things in life the 90 odd % of satisfied owners don't come onto forums and say how good their purchases are, it's the tiny minority that post complaints. I have one of these lenses, it's my favourite lens by far. Just go and buy one!!

Pete

I can only echo the comments of Pete G. It is one of my favourite lenses and there are no problems with IQ. If you want to see any shots taken with it I can oblige. New price is about £400.

Thanks for the replies lads.

I'm definately going to get one, just unsure whether it's worth a punt getting one from ebay and saving £100 for something else.

I picked up one on here about a month ago and am very happy with it!

It is one of Sigma's EX series (so better build quality) so don't think there'll be an issue second hand. even if I did get mine new.

If you're looking a prices, IMO don't think it's worth the extra cash for the slightly faster F3.5 version, I've got the f4-5.6 and am very happy with it

I've had mine for 3 years and it's one of my mainstay lenses for travelling & landscape work. It's also great for automobile photos too.

This Set was taken using the 10-20 & my 7D

Bought mine SH off here some months back good lens.

Ive had my siggy 10-20 for about 8 months, bought second hand, and love it. Its my fave lens as I love landscape stuff ands have never had any issues with it (touches wood)

Hi

Def get one

Have you tried Stuart @ Digital Depot or Ian (Kerso) - think Ian is more Canon, but he may well do this for Nikon.

Both are traders on here and both very good - look in the classified section and both would hopefully save you some money.
