I find my Sigma is very well built, nice and solid. Its been sharp enough for my clients and for my tastes. I'm sure it could be sharper but I'm happy with it. The Tokina is meant to be better, but I wanted the widest lens I could get. I didn't want to think "If only I had got the wider one." I was just tired of missing things.

It's the 12mm that puts me off. My current lens goes as short as 17mm, so to make it worthwhile I'd be wanting to go down to 10mm. To be honest, if you're happy with it, and plenty of other people on here seem to be, then I don't see how I can go wrong.

My sister has the canon 10-22 and tbh I cannot see any difference between shots with that or my sigma 10-20 having used both.
I cut off the first two slots off my P series holder, it can only take one filter now but I can use it at 10mm.

Go and test all of them out at a shop with your camera, as it sems the reviews are quite conflicting, I bought mine last year (Sigma) after reading the review in DP mag. Sigma was equal with the Canon, the Canon had the edge with the other 2mm, but the Sigma stole it back with the price.....give em all a try, you know it makes sense.

I love my Sigma 10-20 (the New York pics earlier in this thread were mine) and couldn't live without it now. I had the usual Sigma/Tokina/Nikon thoughts, but to be honest 10mm really is significantly wider than 12mm, it amazed me how much so. That was enough for me as I honestly don't notice small differences in detail/resolution etc.
The build quality is superb, I went without a tripod but managed exposures up to 20 seconds (usually 5-8) in many places simply because I felt confident holding it firmly down on a wall/girder/fence post etc without any risk of damaging it.
I've even shot some motorsport on it...

Got mine.. haven´t took it out and about yet but look.. it´s wide and although you won´t tell on these test shots because I literally put it on and shot without sorting lighting etc... (the best ones have me in them and you´re not getting them) it is a sharp lens and very very very good so far. Nikon fit by the way.
