the question im asking is, which is best for detail and sharpness grabbing on a D300? The reason im asking is i cant just make my mind up after reading all the reviews on the web!

basically im asking for users experience for and against on each model so i can make my mind up for my hols to egypt in three weeks:)

Tokina 12-24? :p

(Steps back to watch head explode...)

any pics to justify! its just that im amazed at how fast the siggy 10-20 is selling new or second hand im starting to think its all hype!!

mind you that 12-24 tokina is defo looking favourite according to the web reviews!....heads battered! nothing is simple:)

I would say the reason the Sigma is selling so fast is because it is the best known third party lens (Sigma being the biggerst third party manu.). IMO the Tokina is better, but not by that much IQ wise, but it just feels better made and the constant f/4 is appealing.

These threads show photos shot almost entirely with the 12-24 (all exifis intact), although you can't really pick out sharpness in small sizes like that. :)
