Great, another welshman
I've still got my 'L' plates on with this camera lark. I've just been bitten by the bug for the second time after a failed first foray where I didn't get out of Auto mode due to lack of time & inclination; so I sold my D40 and bought a compact. The TZ7 was ok but didn't get anywhere near the quality of the D40 images.
This time round I've been more determined and taught myself the basics on a fantastic compromise between a dslr and a compact- the GF1 which I use with a 20mm 1.7 and various 'legacy' lens. I love the fact that I can slip it into a jacket pocket to use anywhere and the low light indoor capability has been useful numerous times.
So, interest rekindled, I picked up another D40 and added a 55-200 with a 35 1.8 on the way. I'm surprised how basic the body seems in operation compared with the GF1 but it delivers great images so it will stay for now, although i'm eyeing up more capable bodies already...
I'm looking forward to tapping into the wealth of knowledge on the forum to take my ability and quality of pics further.
