Hi all,

I have a Nikon D80 and i am confused by the shutter speed numbers. On Auto the shutter speed seems good but on P mode it seems a lot slower.

I've read my manual but i can't seem to adjust it on P mode :bonk:

I would also like some advice on how best to photograph moving objects, not particularly fast, but moving none the less.

Thanks for any advice :)

Auto mode also sets your ISO to auto, whereas in P mode you probably have your ISO fixed. Put ISO in auto mode when you use P and you'll get the same shuuter speed.

I like shooting dogs on the move, I usually find putting it in the shutter priority mode first, then upping the iso till I'm happy with the picture. I'm a complete novice to using a DSLR, but learning all the time.

I also set the camera to take contiuous shots, and have it in AI Servo mode too. Also focussing on the subject before it moves I find is useful as I can then follow the subject as it moves taking lots of shots. That way, I usually get a few keepers
