I have a Nikon D3 and i need a shutter release cable, the Nikon cable MC-30 seems quite expensive compared to the cheap ones on ebay, are the cheaper ones on ebay worth getting and can anyone recommend one or am i best to dig deep and buy the Nikon
If you bide your time the MC-30 does come up at a reasonable price, I managed to get one for £25 new off ebay in an auction that no one else bid on, 2nd hand ones are normally a good bit cheaper than what people want these days for new.
I don't know the price of the copy, but for that version of shutter release it is a very simple design to copy, and I doubt there'd be any problems. I would never buy the Nikon remotes as they are massively overpriced imho.
I don't have a D3, but a D300S which takes devices with the same 10 pin connection. I went for a copy of the MC-36 remote from 7Dayshop, which is a bit more versatile in enabling timed and intervalometer functions. I also have a wireless Phottix Plato remote from Ebay, and allows me to fire the shutter from 100 feet away, though I have never been that far away from my camera.
I have had no problems with either, and were well worth the money.
I've got a mc30 and some eBay £2.99 cheapest.
I much prefer re fell of the cheapest and, if you leave on on a beach, like I nearly did, less to worry about. The are only two simple switches and some cables. The Nikon one IMO did not have the same feel.it is one of those things that really does not matter. The Nikon version will not take better pics!
