Yes
I bought a third party shutter release cable, when I plug it in, it does not allow me to slightly depress the button to show speed aperture etc in the viewfinder. It just takes the pic. It also stops the cameras shutter release button from doing its job ie doesn't focus on a light press it takes the pic straight away.
Do the Canon own make of release cable do the same, or have I bought a bad egg again :)
thanks

My third party one focuses on a light press and brings up the info on the screen..... maybe a dodgy one.

Yep I think I have a dodgy one Janice, where did you get your's from ?

Can we jiggle them both around and get one good one between us :)

Ive bought two in the past........both from Link Delight. they seem pretty good.

Although bear in mind that if you have yoiur AE/AF lock etc the opposite way round set in Custom functions........it will not autofous when you press the button.

I dont mind if you boys want to jiggle them around between you...........as long as I can watch!! :naughty:

Aha petemc mentioned this maybe I will have a look brb :)

I havent forgotten Ive still got your wedding book, Shorn.............. after 18th August I will send it back!!

the custom function is set to

0:AF/AE lock

is this what it should be to allow proper use of the cable ?

I think thats right as it is as the shutter button autofocuses as I depress it :)

Yes 0 is the default anything before the / means the function of the shutter button anything after the slash means the function of the * button

it can be reversed but this is the normal state.

I fixed it :)
well sort of, I took it out, turned the camera off, plugged it in and switched camera on, it does work now but it's a fine hair trigger.
Will still look at another though.
Thanks
