I'm looking at getting a second hand nikon D5000. Can anyone tell me what a good condition camera is in term's of shutter count?
I'm clueless as to what kind of number would be considered heavy use.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, its a bit like the mileage covered of a car engine. You might think that 100,000 miles is a lot but actually it'll keep going for long beyond that.

Most cameras are rated to around 50k clicks but will keep going after this if it's cared for.

for a D5000. One person even claims to have got 8,388,607 shots out of theirs, in the 2 years or so since the camera was launched.


That works out at 478 shots per hour, every hour, 24/7 for 2 years.....
 
Its alway a hard one,and it depend on the price.

But i would say 15k,it just been run in :)
 
hi, i've just brought a D5000. i done some research on them, apparently they are good for 100,000 clicks. But like most things if they are well looked after should last for ages...by the way if you get a D5000 you'll love it!!!!
