Shutter count

I think a lot of cameras will show the true actuations while others don't. You got to wonder if they take that number from the file system though, and how changing cards/resetting the camera would effect the number they come up with.

Those things had crossed my mind too. Anyone know for sure?:shrug:

some models have the true number accesible and some dont.. like i say the canon 1d cameras could at 1dmkII but not III and IV :( you prob need to check with manufacturer if you model has the shutter count accesible or not..

Yes I understand that but would changing a card, as has been said, change the count? I suspect not, but not sure.

no it wouldnt.. thats not how its stored.. its actually in the exif and goes by shutter count...

Nikon EXIF shows the true shutter actuations, rather than just the file number
