ShrubMonkey's 52 for 2010 - "Poem & Poetry" - alternative added

Really great start to your 52 (although I knew you would have some good shots having looked at a lot of your 365) - I agree with all of the comments about the sky and the contrast against the hull of the boat.
 
ohh, fabulous.. super curves indeed and that sky.. winner for me!
 
whoooo this is beautiful I love it! Looks like an abstract painting. Lovely tones, it looks so smooth!

That's awesome! Love the blue of the sky! I can't see the original, so don't know what it looked like before, but this one's cracking!

I never know how to take a proper picture of a boat when I see one - always end up with messy boat and boring background. Next time I'll get closer and try it your way :)

WOW this is excellent I love the colour of the sky and the "clean" lines of the boat. I can't see the original though it says image unavailable :shrug:

I think that's because he's replaced the original with the 'fixed' one.:)

This is a very strong image with great lines and super colouring. Could almost be a render. Good luck with the next 51.

THE FINAL RUN
by Sam Clues 1999

Dedicated to ALL Field Gunners across the Globe

One ton of metal
Over one ton of years
Has plenty of memories
With even some tears

The Field Gun tradition
Is ceasing to stride
But gunners the world over
Will always feel pride

All crews have performed
With fine efforts abound
And always the public
We never fail to astound

Out, Back & Home
Were the Trainer's demands
So to keep each run steady
We'd obey his commands

On all of the tracks
The dust will now settle
And soon the equipment
Will be rust covered metal

So what of the summers
From this year on
There'll be little to do
Now that Field Gun is gone

Re-unions will follow
With that I am certain
But will many turn up
After this final curtain

Earls Court is ending
There's no new domain
We must find a venue
So the race can remain

The arena's now empty
And each crew is done
So sadly no more
Will we see the 'Gun Run'

Now the crews will be waiting
For the bugler's tone
To send them forever
On that final RUN HOME!
 
What have you done to that image? SM? Love the poem...image seems weird...I like but what PP is there?
 
Thanks Roo. I was after something a little different, bit more arty :)

This is a single shot saved as three different exposures, processed HDR in Photomatix, then many adjustments in Photoshop including mono conversion using Silver Efex Pro.
 
like that.. very striking image.. nice processing and angle and thats a great poem too..

Understand that the angle in the 2nd shot is not to everbodies taste, but it's a style I've developed whilst shooting my 365 last year, I love angled shots ;)

Found the processing a little distracting to start with, kept thinking it was a sketch. Gave it half an hour, came back and now I can't stop looking at it.

Wow, refreshing to see honest feedback like this, as stated previously I knew it was a marmite shot, I'm increasingly looking for abstract angles on everyday shots, sometimes folks like, sometimes they don't.

interesting processing there, ought to be too much, but it works!
not sure about the angle, but then I don't get most pictures that are at an angle like that!
 
Interesting treatment. Almost IR in sketch form. Like it. Not keen on the angle though, my neck is starting to hurt :)
