As per the title really. Show us all what you can do with just one flash/flash head.

Apologies if I've missed a similar thread. I did do a search, but came up with nothing.

Cheers

Nick

Always best to make use of the sunlight or a soft light from an overcast sky as a secondary light. Sorry for the lack of studio shots - rarely use a single light set-up!

The same set up as Martins, although it's actually an Elemental Genesis flash head with softbox. ;)

Love this

Recently posted these two in the portraits section, but they were both taken with one off-camera SB700 with no backdrop:

I wasnt sure if a reflector was alloud, if not i'll post some others as I pretty much started with Zack Arias' school of the one light, I even got a signed print from him saying good luck a couple days I got hitched.

Anyway, this is one softbox right above the model and then a tri-flector below.

Some really excellent shots on here, well done guys.:clap:

Great thread, really looking forward to seeing what all you guys have done with one light. Some great stuff so far!

want to know how 3 and 4 were produced! love these

Single bare studio strobe positioned about 2 o clock from camera and low. Model almost facing the light but not quite.

Thanks :)

Great thread :)

I'm a great believer in 'less is more' when it comes to lighting. For the same money as a three-head e bay special kit, just get one decent quality studio flash, a selection of cheap brollies and a reflector. For newcomers, multiple lights just add confusion.

It's also worth pointing out that even if you have several lights on the go, there is (almost) always just one key light doing the lion's share of work on the main subject.

YN560 (I think) into a popup softbox. No edits except a WB tweak.

Bare 580EX II on camera. Auto Tone to tweak. This was a waitress taking a break in the alley behind the restaurant when a few of us wandered by and fired a few shots. Sun over the shoulder and a bit of fill.

I am a complete novice in studio work, so be gentle with me :)

Setup was a softbox head on, processed in LR3

Trying to get to grips with flash but here are a couple of single light ones. Unfortunately not as good as many of the amazing shots in this thread, but practice, practice, practice!

An old one, not long after I'd got my flash - handheld camera left - if I was doing it now I'd change a few things but I guess, hopefully, that's progress!

One softbox. There is a strobe on the floor but that was aimed at the lower part of the body for the full length ones, just the softbox on the face
