Show us your man cave

I be thinking  No Kids ?

That was my first thought too :) If that was my house those speakers would be covered in jam fingerprints and dog snot!

Joking aside - a lovely set of rooms though

My 'man cave' is our livingroom, and it's been a storage area for my guitars and amps pretty much all my married life (>32 years now) as well as computers, books & DVDs. We live in an old cottage, so it's the exact opposite of all that sparkly white stuff on page 2 ;) I like an 'open filing system'. :)

I have different man caves according to what I'm doing. My photography man cave looks something like this:

My work man cave changes from day to day but looks something like this:

All good fun! :)

nice day job.. what was the last big name gig you worked at?

Well that shot was taken a couple of years ago in Germany, I was touring with that band so we were hopping on and off gigs of all sizes all the time but I was hardly ever at home! These days I'm based fairly local (at least for the moment) and look after a couple of live music venues in Leeds. Probably the last gig of any reasonable 'size' I did was last September, a festival I do every year called Bingley Music Live. My man cave for that one looks something like this:

These shots were actually taken in 2012, I didn't get a man cave shot last year! My office does have a fairly decent view sometimes, this was taken during Nero's set and ended up being the official publicity photo for the festival in 2013, pretty chuffed with that!

My famed "Hobby room" - my most favourite place in the world where I always feel safe and cosy, not to mention where I handle all my personal projects (cartoon drawing, meteorology and the occasional photography).

But what is out of view is my tri-monitor PC set up and the Tangerine Dream-style synthesizer set up.
I like that very much, I'll have a house with a room like that one day, but it'll be full of computers and their related stuff, camera bits, DVDs and video games/consoles and a collection of lasers.

I have 3 man caves that I use primarily for PS4/PS3 gaming and watching flicks. They just so happen to be in my front room, bedroom and office! My partner and I both enjoy them, so there's no need for anywhere to 'escape' to. :D

Wow - just wow.
Seriously jealous and the winner by far.

Now this is just up my street, spot on, I've just shown my 9 year old lad, his reply was "wow that's cool, can we get a man cave dad" :)

Not quite in the same style as the other man caves, but this is mine... :woot:

Now this is a MAN'S man cave in traditional style. Is that final pic a milling machine? I salute you sir.

Good stuff! My dad would be jealous (he was a toolmaker all his working life, I remember Saturday mornings as a child in the mid - late 1970s going to the unit on the industrial estate while he did stuff on the lathes / mill / spark eroder etc).

Now that is a proper man cave, really rather jealous!!! What sort of stuff do you machine?

Cheers Harry! At the moment mostly this - it's a 3" to the foot (one quarter scale) Fowler A7 traction engine. It's a long term project...

Thank you Toni! It is indeed a milling machine - a Bridgeport turret mill (clone).

Cheers Mark!

Now that chief is a proper man cave. I'd be turning out gimbal heads and hide clamps galore if I was lucky enough to have something like that.

Proper machines, none of this CNC crap. :)

Similar memories too! I came home from school in the late 60s early 70s and my Dad had bought an old (then) Capstan(?) lathe - a huge thing which he'd managed to shoehorn into the garage of a normal suburban semi. I remember well the smell of the cooling oil and playing with the swarf. The funniest thing was when he started it up it used to make the streetlights go dim :)

My man cave is coming on. The photo shows the view looking up to my skylight. Absolutely cool!!

All plastered, just the electrics, laminate floor, skirting etc. and painting. Should be finished Wednesday.

Networking will be done a bit later when face plate turns up from the US

Yay well done for getting the thread going again was missing those men caves

Taking shape, all decorated, just network termination to do. Desk and monitors are in, connect up the PC, server and xbox over the weekend.
