Hi guys thought i would start a thread on peoples man caves or offices or rooms or sheds in which we like to escape to so we can do the things that we do.

I will start with my shed/office which is at the end of my garden and believe it or not stays very warm. Its not much but somewhere where i can get away from it all.

I know everyone was thinking it was just waiting for someone to say it!!

My whole home is a Man Cave! Ever since I divorced my ex over 10 years ago. My daughter stays long periods with me but she has her own room and she's cool.

Some (most) married blokes who visit my home for the first time invariably exclaim that it's a bachelor pad and I can tell they are envious.

No pics as I don't want to corrupt those of you who are happily married.

:D

Dont tell me, surround sound speakers, sub woofer, 50" flatscreen TV, trailing cables everywhere, years behind in the decorating, not a cushion in sight in the lounge? That sort of thing?
If its anything like mine anyway.

My man cave is my garage. No entertainment stuff in there though because it will get damaged with paint fumes and dust. I'm pretty sure the wife would be happy if I permanently moved in there though. I don't have a picture of my man cave as such, but I have some pictures of my toys in it. It's work in progress just now as well as the 2.8 Capri in the background.

Edit: forgot the picture, had to try and remember my old PB details.

....Similar! Home recording means a small mixing desk, self amp'd reference monitors plus 400W Mackie stage monitor for some 'woofing', miles of cables, 32" Sony flatscreen also with dedicated reference monitors. Big executive L-shaped desk with 27" Mac etc etc.

I'm also a Dude living in Dorset, but a 66yo dude.

My famed "Hobby room" - my most favourite place in the world where I always feel safe and cosy, not to mention where I handle all my personal projects (cartoon drawing, meteorology and the occasional photography).

Meontelly.jpg

But what is out of view is my tri-monitor PC set up and the Tangerine Dream-style synthesizer set up.

Every time I see this thread title, an image of the infamous Groatsea (deliberately trypoed to spare the curious Googlers!) man leaps unbidden to mind. And that's after brain surgery to clean my filthy mind!!!

I have no man cave, although my computer room and garage almost count. Neither is forbidden territory to Mrs Nod though.

TBH, I don't ever feel the need to escape from her. In fact, I enjoy every moment we spend together and that's even after damn near 30 years of cohabitation and her being self employed for almost a year so home a lot of the time! (And no, she's not reading this over my shoulder!!!)

....She's a relatively rare lady. So you are lucky. She obviously knows that by allowing you space to follow your loved hobbies/interests you will love her more! Wise lady.

I'd be happy there

Who's that photogenic chappie presenting the weather on telly...?

That is me! (a friend cleverly photoshopped me onto the telly).

Here's me in full regalia . . .

MichaelFishJumper.jpg

my sister knitted that by hand, all based on a single photo of Michael Fish wearing the same thing (and the man himself commented on it in Facebook recently).

OMG, your man-caves are so tidy! :) I'm not posting any pics of mine in case the local environmental health police get wind of it

just after moving in, its a bit less cluttered now and a nice desk lamp added, different chair etc.

still needs a few pics on the walls though.

I have some PG Tips monkeys as well lol. A big(ish) one I got free with a box of tea bags about 6 years ago, a small one with suckers for the car window and another mini one.

Loving the man space guys (and girls of course) (or do ladies not really have these sort of things)

My whole flat is mine, all mine, and I am not showing anyone!

.....'cos its soooo messy! :D

Cheers. It's a cosworth with the turbo taken off, so it's naturally aspirated now. It normally says turbo next to DOHC 16V on the rocker cover but I filled it in with liquid metal and polished it all up. I don't know where to start with the list of modifications on the engine. Literally the only bit that is standard is the block itself but even that has has some work done to it. It's running about 280bhp and the twin 48 webber carbs sound awesome lol. That paired with the sequential gearbox (which cost me more than my passat) it's monster of a wee car. There is not one part of this restoration that hasn't been done and not one part of the car that hasn't been touched. Glad you like! It's been a long 6years with this car and literally I have shed blood, real tears and litres of sweat over it. It started off life as a Mexico and it's not finished yet. I always have something else to replace or modify everytime I take it to an event :banghead:

Paul, what are you looking at competing the car in?

My man room. Estimated move back in date mid Feb. Cannot wait!!!

It's all been cables up, so gigabit network everywhere :)

I've already done a few tarmac rallys, drifting and trackdays. It won't take much to turn it into a dirt rally car but I'm unsure of the different class restrictions at the minute. Not looked into it for a while. Hopefully if i get into proper dirt rally driving all I should have to change is tyres and suspension. It`s more of a hobby though i dont fancy wrapping it round a tree lol

My man cave is my whole house, plus the three garages. Yes I have a 46" plasma, 5.1 surround sound etc setup in the lounge and so on, computers everywhere, everything on cat5e ethernet so lots of cables and so on.

One of my friends says she loves coming to visit as the whole place is "no compromises".

That's excellent :D

I have a MSA log booked Clan Crusader which has been rallied before might one day see some tarmac stages again, after I make some progress on sorting out my house (it's currently hiding one of the garages behind a load of kitchen units that I need to fit!) Although with the change to the blue book this year putting a life on seats I'm going to need to buy a new pair of those for it, which will be another expense.

Nice! I've not gone that far with it yet, mainly just been to fun events for anyone. If I do look into it hopefully I won't need to change much. Now that you mention it I will probably need new seats and harnesses as well. The ones in it are about 4years old. I can't remember how often you have to have them changed.

Nice Mr Potato head costumes! :D
seriously youd think kids lived in our house with the amount of toys. mr potato heads, angry birds, pg tips monkeys, Clarence the birds eye polar bear, mr men etc

i want a cut the rope "om nom"

I'm feeling a littl emasculated if I'm honest  :$

At the end of 2009 I moved into a flat of my own....... black glass and chrome as far as the eye could see

In 2011 my GF moved in with me and that when things started to change..... pointless trinkets appearing on shelves, more cushion on the sofa and even some completely pointless ones on the bed that just get taken off at night and put back on in the morning..... WTF is that all about?

We got married in 2012 and moved into a 3 bed house in March last year..... OMG!!! Let's just say she's gone a little nuts making the house look "pretty". There isn't one room that hasn't got some kind of heart hanging up, they're even hanging from some of my surround sound speakers

Not only are there pointless cushions on our bed, there are more on the spare bed too :jawdrop:

The only saving grace is that (provided I keep the cables out of sight) I'm allowed to have my 7.1 surround sound, games consoles and associated A/V stuff in the lounge.

My aim in the next 5-10 years is to have a nice big man cave built at the bottom of the garden...... just seems such a long way off right now :(

A few years ago I went to Crail and Knockhill all the time but it's been back in the garage for a while now. I probably won't get it finished till towards the end of this year with money having to go towards other things, so I won't really be looking at any events till next year. I'm probably going to sell the Capri. It's just a rolling shell that I restored and painted inside and out but I'm sure someone will snap it out my hands. It will make room in the garage for next years project once the escort is finished. Am edging towards getting some sort of import like a Nissan Silvia to have a good rag around Driftland. Hoping to take the Escort there as well but I'm not sure. I'd rather take something that if it brakes it's not too much trouble to repair. Like if the bumper comes off I can just whack it back on with cable ties lol.

Great Topic. I have two man caves really, one at home and one at work.

My office at home, complete with my Tri-fire - Tri monitor PC build, currently rated in the UK's top ten on HWBot when I can be bothered benching it.
(5.1GHZi7 3770K / 2400DDR3 / 3x 7970HD's all overclocked and the entire rig under water with 1 large internal and one VERY large external radiator.)

And my favourite part of my business - my Dyno cell.

For non Petrol heads - this is how its used.

That's where A/V gear normally is, provided the cables are routed neatly round the edge of the room and out of sight as good as possible. :)

Trust me.... if she could disguise any of the speakers or "ugly black boxes" in any way she would! (picture those doll things that are meant to hide loo rolls  )

If anyone ever comments on the TV stand arrangement there's a standard "Yeah that's HIS stuff" with a fair amount of distain in her voice

When I was chiseling part of the door frame away so I could route an HDMI cable from my PC to the A/V amp the look on her face was priceless
