I'm still using a very old system.......

Linn LP!2 turntable, with the usual Ittok arm and Asak cartridge
Naim CDS
Meridian 101 and 105 Amplifiers
Isobarik Speakers

It may be ancient but it still sounds good. The youngest item, the Naim CD player, needs attention but Naim will not repair them, only offer a trade-in on the current model.

The oldest part of the set-up are the Meridian amps, bought them around 1978 whilst still a teenager - still working well.

I sometimes wonder about updating parts of the system, then I look at the prices and go off the idea, but the CDS will have to be repaired or replaced sooner or later.

Some of the later naim CD players were selling quite cheaply. I think the CDS can't be repaired any more as they don't have the bits. The cdx2 is a fine player. I'd get one of those second hand. They were about 800 (3500 retail!) a few years ago.

Thanks for the info Suz. I'll look into the CDX2 when the time comes to replace, at the moment I'm enjoying a "vinyl revival" having reconnected the LP12 after getting fed up with the rather lifeless Sonos sound.
