Okay, It's that time of year again - Time for a Showing-Off thread, I reckon...

Rules are simple - one frame - B&W or Colour, 35mm,MF,LF, Wet Plate or Polaroid, but it has to be done with chemicals not electrons

Anyone Up for it... if there's enough people throw their hat into the ring, I'll post a thread in Photo's from Film... I'd do it straight away, but frankly, I haven't got a single decent shot on film (i've probably only got one or two on dijikal come to think of it!)

That's a toughie, will go and have a look now...

So, that's one "i'll have a look" and another 2 definites... Cool.

Ideally, I'd like to keep all the shots in the photo-sharing section - we had to fight for ages for somewhere to post pictures from fillum, reckon we should use it now...

If we get a couple more takers, I'll open up a thread - simple stuff - post a picture, quick writeup of camera/film/processing/anything else appropriate and (optionally) a short note as to why you think that the shot was the frame of the year for you...

I've got one decent (to me) shot I've taken this year, if youre going to start a new thread I'll wait until then.

If you want to throw your hat into the ring, picture thread's here...

I've started it, so there's no pressure yours is going to be the "worst in show"

frankly, I was lucky to find one shot I liked from this year - looking back through lightroom, I've taken under 100 frames in total (film and dijikal!) this year - and that includes entering the POTY for the first six months of the year...

I've taken more shots than I thought... I love the sharpness of the photos that came out of that particular set though.

I'll have a look in the morning if only to ensure the overall quality doesn't rise too high.

Best film shots? I'll let you know sometime in 2013 when I've actually scanned everything in :bonk:

thought I'd better post a little early - normally these retrospective threads start occurring after Christmas and up to the New Year, but knowing how long we take to get our collective donkeys into gear...

Have I even taken any pictures this year...:(

If I have, its gonna be pretty chuffin easy to pick the best from....err......3

There's always a bright side to everything..:gag:

I took out the Rolleiflex today, the counter read 1... by the time I got back home, the counter was still on 1

Out of the 100 frames I've taken, there were 2x36 exposure test rolls (ergo, not really proper pictures, just walk around and burn some film to prove the camera/chemicals still work) and the other 28 were digital shots, maybe 4 a month for each of the POTY entries and rest were a couple of self portraits to chart how my diet's going...

Not exactly as if i've set my stall out to make any "great art" PMSL

Ay, go on then, I've got one or two I quite liked this year, I shall have a ferret and see which is the least worst.

I'll have a look at what i have, still need to scan 3 films but should have some stuff to bring the overall high quality crashing down

Hmm, seeing as this has really only been my first full year with LF, I should have a fairly easy list to choose from! I know it goes against the idea of the thread, but could we have a favourite colour and a favourite B&W frame, on the condition that the films have to be originally colour and B&W respectively? :D

A very good idea, I'm sure I can find one of each that are equally mediocre

Who am I to argue with Photographer of the Year 2009  (Especially as I'll never get the chance to equal that accolade now :shake:)

Unfortunately Mark, that's true 2009 will never come around again, you'll have to be satisfied with 2013

2 problems with that...

1) don't think that a staff member entering the competition never mind winning any of the (pretty amazing) prizes for 2013 would be exactly kosher... anyway - it's a matter of record - staff can't enter

2) after getting called a cheat in the 2012 episode, frankly, I've zero interest in any further competitions - I actually came within a gnats of handing in my name-badge then getting legal on the asses of the persons who accused me... realised that I wasn't that petty/pathetic, even if they are!

wow - i didn't know I could do that...

Brian - I've moved your picture into the "display thread" over in photo sharing.

I knew I could move threads, didn't realise I could move individual posts from one forum to another, and into an existing thread.

Every Day's a Schoolday I guess!

Sorry Mark, didn't want to re-open old wounds.

can i have 2 B&W if I only shoot b&W? lol

Do you always go around advocating anarchy? Do you want planet TP to implode? Next thing you'll trying to shoehorn some sort sort of digital shot in.

Tsk and tut, youth of today blah, blah, blah don't know they're born blah, blah, blah, no respect for tradition blah, blah, blah :lol::lol:

Know what you mean about the youth of today, tch :suspect:

But can we? :D

Done and done. The standard is exceptionally high.

Haha, I never really thought about it that way! I rather like my little tag though, despite that I seem to be the only one without the distinct 'blueness' to it! Baffled as to why really?!

In actuality, the tag was prize enough for me, but then I also got a free TP fleece out of it too! Happy days :D I wear it all the time when out taking landscapes :)

I think if I'd managed to scan the slides better they'd be my favourite but failing that I've but a b&w city scape in.
