That's reallly nice Wayne, I think the colours are lovely, in fact they look like Portra to my eyes.
Thanks for your kind words Jack,

I am cheapskate and will not stretch to Portra, I am only taking snapshots, nothing special so don't see the point in going all expensive with films. I own 1 roll of portra that I found in a camera bag that I bought earlier in the year, but its from 2011.

This is the first of a three roll bundle I bought in 120 and pleased that they came out so well. Far Far better than my efforts with Kodak 200 in 35mm

If it swims like a duck and quacks like a duck its a duck.

Its a duck.jpg

Going back a few posts the contra jour performance of that lens gives a nice effect.

A couple from the top of Spurn Point lighthouse...

Nikon F80
Tamron 28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di VC PZD
Fujifilm Acros. Ilfotec DD-X 1+4 9mins @ 20°

It's a fair old walk to the end of the spit, and the climb to the top of the lighthouse with a weighty bag and a tripod isn't easy either!

The first shot is looking out to the end of the spit and across the Humber estuary into Lincolnshire. In the second picture you can see how the spit curves around to the middle left of the frame, where it joins the Holderness coast.

I was photobombed by a butterfly in the second shot too. :)

Looking through some old snaps which, unadjusted I thought were poor, didnt know any better, have been 1 click auto in lightroom

Think this was F90 with HP5 (without digging out negative to check)

First roll back from the better isola and I'm impressed with it. It's definitely better than the other one. Kodak Ektar this time.

7000AF minolta was a total bust. All under exposed. Nothing good. Rather bummed as it was really interesting place.

Little Min the tele super did well with the Phoenix 2. Not sure a compact is really suited to autumn contrast but quite happy again.

I discovered a roll of slide film that I'd never got round to shooting...

Velvia 100 (expired 4 years ago), taken with Nikon F5 and Micro Nikkor 105mm f2.8 G

This was the first roll of slide film I'd ever shot. Not sure if I'll ever repeat the exercise, given the cost these days!

I Like FX-39ii

to my eyes the shadows and midtones are nice, not so sure about the high tones but I was on the other side of the road under trees and forgot to allow for the super bright sunshine on the house and background trees. so probably this set not the best to make a final assessment. DOH.

This one is a bit worse, but strangely I have got used to the effect and can appreciate it somewhat.

FX39 acutance is very strong and mackie lines can get a bit confused in fine vegetation.

Must check the negative, fingers crossed its on the scanner

The thing that caught my eye is the shadows of the people walking on the bridge.

Acutance,

There are black and white lines as Nigel said there should be.

Acutance.jpg

There is even a bit round the grain clusters, and my scanner is better than I thought on a good negative.

The (now uninhabited) lifeboat crew houses on Spurn Point. These were built in 1975 and replaced the original cottages that dated to 1819. There are now no lifeboat crews based at Spurn with the service being covered from Grimsby and the new inshore lifeboat station at Cleethorpes.

Taken from the road at the head of Ullswater, bad spot really, across the road and up a small hill would have opened up the view considerably.

I like that composition, Wayne. It's different. The sloping hillside, the way it's lit, and the white fenced area add interest. I think it's good to find alternative views of oft-photographed scenes.

Thank you for the kind words NIgel, I must admit I waited for that light to come over for a good half an hour, ideally I wanted it to just pick out the fence also , but it just wasn't happening, I see beautiful images every 100 yds and its a pain when riding my bike to pack everything up then stop again after two minutes and set up again, when supposedly on a whistle stop tour. Ha Ha.

I could spend a week just there!

Love those colours!
My ultramax never looks that good, does the RC lens have a coating?

I hope I have some left
Thanks Wayne.

I think Ultramax sometimes looks great, sometimes less so on the occasions I've shot it. These were in more subdued light because of some high-altitude cloud and I'm really happy with the colours I got. I also like it in bright sunshine, where the colours (reds and oranges especially) seem to pop.

Yes, the lens is coated.
