I was going for one of those arty shots, red cabin in a field of snow type. I would have liked the shingle edge to be straight but whatever angle I tried it wasn't possible.

Romantic view of Ashness Bridge, reportedly one of the most photographed bridges in the Lake district, with View of Skidaw in the background. Not a particularly good day when we arrived with that in between situation of cloud and generally poor visibility.

Can I ask when were these taken? I ask because this old watermill was intended for restoration by an organisation called the Vale Mill Trust. I volunteer at another watermill about 6 miles away called Pathhead Watermill which was also under the wing of the same trust.
This has now separated from Vale Mill and is now a separate entity and it partially operating, but only for demonstration purposes. You can find it by searching for Path head water Mill on google

Just recently John - I think on 9th September. I've photographed at Path Head a few times, most recently on dry plate:

Your long struggle to find a working 124G has certainly paid off. These are great.

Thank you Kevin :)

I just love the experience of actually using it. Decent photographs are a bonus in a way - even with the cost :ROFLMAO:

I've a few more from Beer to clear through and then........ Quite a lot of digital and 3 rolls of 400h (I've one shot left on the last roll!) to dev/scan from Wales, mainly Snowdonia area.

A few more from my last roll in the Agfa ISO-Rapid C camera. (Fomapan 100 in Bellini Duo Step)

Getting many more reasonable images now that I hold the camera firmly as the shutter goes off.
All I have to do now is get a reliable film loading procedure.

I like the pincushion distortion in the last one.

I volunteer there working in the mill itself demonstrating the working of the machinery and giving a run down on it's use and history. You have photographed my 'office', - the open door just visible behind the wall. After months with no real rain the water coming into the mill pond was absolutely filthy today with suspended mud, where last weekend it was very very clear. Not drinkable of course, but clear.
It will be worse tomorrow because it was still raining cats and dogs when I left at 3pm today.

How do you find the duo step Dave?

Looks like nice even tones, love that you have some detail in the windmill wall and door. Great job!

Thanks for the comments, Barney. I like what I get from it on Fomapan 100 and 200, but it's not at all technical. One of the features of Bellini Duo Step is that it is quite tolerant of temp and time. It's not a developer to use to experiment pushing and pulling. Who knows! it might be correcting my errors and helping me to look as if I know what I'm doing!
It works, so I will use it... also bought some Rodinal (Bellini foto version) to play with as Fomapan 400 might do better in it, yet to try both again.

If it works as diafine, which I believe it is an attempt to copy, its very technical and as you have identified very forgiving, besides temp and time it is also tolerant of different ISO on same roll. Somehow it manages to stop development at the blacks in bath one and stop development at the highlights in bath two. it seems remarkable to me.

I was attracted to this scene initially because of the texture of the stone and the tree behind, it appeared a stone tree stump, then I caught the diagonal light leading up the path to the dappled stile.

Recently, I decided to try my hand with caffenol developer. I shot a 24 exp roll of Kentmere 400 in a "plastic fantastic" fixed-focus, single-shutter-speed (1/125s), single-aperture (f/11), plastic lens (22mm) Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim camera, used stand development for 30 minutes in caffenol c-h @ 20 degrees C, water stop bath, home-made sodium thiosulphate and white vinegar fixer, Ilford wash and final rinse.

Unfortunately, I either failed to dissolve everything properly, or there was some crystallising of elements in the developer when I cooled it down to room temperature in a cold water bath. As a result, most of the images have many white spots that, under higher magnification, look like snowflakes. That aside, the negatives were nicely balanced with a good tonal range, and really nice, subdued grain for this speed of film.

Next time, I'll be mixing the caffenol at room temperature (so I don't need to cool it down), stirring for longer, then filtering the solution before use.

Anyway... I'm posting a few of the resulting images, as they didn't turn out too badly, all things considered...

-----------------------------------------

#1 - "Rear of the Year" (The Backside of Retail) - Chester-le-Street, Co. Durham

Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim, Kentmere 400, caffenol c-h stand development (mixing issues leaving deposits on film). Digitised with Pentax K-3, D FA100/2.8 WR lens, and Myriad multi-format film holder.

That's right lovely, Fraser. I was thinking of writing that Glencoe never fails to deliver, but that cloud up the valley reminded me that sometimes it does, big time!
