Show us yer film shots then!

Yes, I'm beginning to notice that I quite often repeat the shots I've previously taken when walking the dogs in the hills behind the village.

Testing a roll of the New KENTMERE 100 in 120 size used my 1978 HASSELBLAD 500C/M + Zeis Makro-Planar 120mm f4 CF lens -- results were NOT SHARP on all frames !! I processed in my Home-Made DIAFINE 2-bath and neg density was good. I had suspicions -- I had a look at the FOCUS SCREEN -- it was NOT 'Seating Flat' so I took it out and replaced making sure it seated onto the flat screws. Next roll results I hope will be SHARPER !

I tested my 1978 HASSELBLAD 500 C/M with a roll of CINESTILL XX Double-X after I had 'Seated' the Focus Screen and shots are now SHARPER ! On some 'Frosty Photos' there is not enough Depth of Field as I had NO Tripod and in the dark SHADE I got 1/125 @ f6.3. when f16 would have been better, rating film at 500 ASA for processing in my Home-Made PYROCAT HD ----- LENS was Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 120mm f4 CF again.

A couple from Dartmoor last week with my Bronica SQ-Ai, one on Provia 100F the other on Portra 160.

Provia.

Portra.

Obviously I wasn’t at the scene , however the provia result looks to be closer to the season in terms of colour tone rendition.

The portra appears too warm imo.

Both are good results and without the comparisons, either would be more than acceptable tbh

Thanks Asha,

I agree with you but I was doing both films side by side to test a different lab with the Portra to rule out the film from my earlier banding issues. Provia is my favourite film but it doesn't handle extreme contrast the way Portra does. I am doing a project on Dartmoor (long term) and I am using Portra for consistency and because in the gloomier winter light I'll need the extra speed of Portra but as I say I do prefer Provia for my personal stuff where I can choose to shoot or not dependant on light and contrast.

Contax G2
Zeiss Planar 45mm f/2
Ilford XP2

I thought I should take the plunge, having finally finished the roll of film intended to produce my ‘decay’ entry. It’s not looking good for this month either, but at least I have my shed shot ready for December. Too early in my return to film photography to judge the merits of XP2 versus HP5, but I can confirm that FilmDev provided a far superior service to the other two labs I’ve tried so far, so thanks again for the recommendation.3D8DEC49-234C-4FE9-81E2-9F37FE1EEB97.jpeg

I rather like that Robin and yes it would have made a good entry for the decay theme.

Yonks ago when I home developed C41 , I tried xp2 and actually found it rendered decent results , certainly preferable over hp5 which I found far too grainy.

Saying that I actually have some hp5 in the fridge yet to open but I’m talking large format which ( I’m hoping) will show less the effects of grain than I experienced with the smaller film sizes.
