In REPLY -- " who did my Leica IIIc CLA" it was Keith Leedham of Rayleigh, Essex. He is a former ROLLEI technician but knows about LEICA Classics as well. He gives me a 'Good Deal' as he knows I am a member of Brentwood & District Photographic Club -- £ 75

Been giving my 'Gift' NIKON FM and FE a trip out again -- they were from an old 90 odd year old Camera Club member who has moved to Northern Ireland. Here are some from the FM on 10/2005 dated Fuji Superia 100 which I processed myself.

Seeing as I now have the magnetic white board for the larger paper and the trays, I decided to have a first attempt with this old 16x20 agfa paper.

The paper appears to be fine.
Unfortunately the 10x8 negative of the local swimming pool following the destruction of storm Alex in 2021 is not, it has some fogging to the edges and a smidge of vignette to the bottom corners which in my impatience and excitement, I didn’t notice before printing

A retake is impossible , however I should still be able to make a reasonable print when I frame it with mat board so I’m not too upset .

I suppose the only way now is to go even larger lol

Appologies that I post iPhone images of my prints , but other than scanning the actual print ( which ain’t gunna happen :p), this is about the only practical option left available to me.

I sincerely hope that I’m not upsetting folk by posting in here .
The images are after all ‘showing my film shots’

So another wet print from today.

12x16 print from a 4x5 negative.

It’s taken me a number of frames on different days to actually get a print of this building that I’m content with.

I have another neg (10x8) taken from a different aspect which also looks quite promising.

Here’s one from last year which at the time I thought no this ain’t gunna work.

It’s been sat in my ‘ do I scrap it ‘ pile since before I left Sospel

Full sun shining in from the upper rhs made for difficult lighting.’

Now it’s printed I’m still finding it a bit marmite.

What do you reckon ( I’m not after c&c as such, just wondering if it works for anyone.)

Absolutely keep. I can see an outstanding image underneath that (easily removed) flare.

(Voice of experience - I have a similar negative and know what can be done.)

I quite like the flare, reminds me of patchy mist creeping through a wood.

I’m drawn towards the graffiti tbh.
The balloon is pretty cool.

Although a lot is just scrawl, there are occasionally budding artists who produce some cool imagery with a spray can.

There's a lot of really nice street art around. It's the graffiti tagging that looks an eyesore for the most part.

There's a website that lists the street art in sheffield, along with a map so you can go along and see it in the flesh: https://streetartsheffield.com/ Some of the stuff is wonderful.

So the story and thought behind this image is that I wanted to shoot the two guys as they passed the doorway, on approach both had their heads down but at the last second one turned towards me. The idea was to have them slightly blurry as they moved to give the impression of moving at pace with the stillness of the hands above them. Shutter speed wasn't slow enough but was as slow as I dared hand hold the Mamiya C3.

The image is a crop of the original made into a darkroom print on Ilford Multigrade RC Deluxe Pearl. I couldn't get the whole image in frame as I don't have a 6x6 condenser holder yet.

Flooded ford, last year. Used to be the only ford in England on an A road. They fixed that be re-designating it! As you can see, it's an important part of the local entertainment.

Another 16x20 wetprint from a 10x8 negative.

And again some vignette like i had in the swimming pool print. :(

Closer inspection of both negatives shows that the problem lies with lens coverage and user inattention.:banghead:

My 10x8 lenses are in fact destined for 5x7 with lots of room for movements.
They cover 10x8 but only just .

I need to take more care basically when composing.
Either that or sell every organ to fund a lens purchase that will cover 11x14

Without doubt thr resulting print is a little disappointing , nonetheless I’ll see what I can make from it .

At least now knowing my error, I can hopefully avoid the same in future and enjoy the 16x20 wet print experience without vignette ;)

Talking of which I might have accidentally and unknowingly skint myself and ordered some rather large ilford paper :wideyed::runaway::film:

@The Big Yin
We need an ‘I love wetprinting ‘ smilie thingy …. Ok , perhaps not ‘we’, :pbut I promise to make good use of it if one is available , grovel grovel;)

The hands alone make for a good photograph ;)
