This photo of Derwent Water at sunrise made the top 10% of the recently announced results in the Natural Landscape Photography Awards 2021. The finalists are all richly deserving of their place, but I am still really pleased to have this one go as far as it did :)

Thanks Woodsy. It's a magical spot which isn't really mentioned much in the visitor literature. If it was England there'd be scores of photographers there.
 
During my business trip to the Netherlands, I tried out Cinestill 800T for the first time so I headed out at night searching for any neon lights or street lamps I could find. Really liking how some of the shots came out but unfortunately an odd pattern appears on the first half of the roll... I've asked BrightonFilmLabs what they think.

I could definitely learn to meter better. 90% of the photos were shot at 1/60th as I daren't go slower whilst handheld.

OK, so this is a rescan - well this time the negative was imaged using a GFX50S+CanonEF100mm Macro Lens, tethered into LR, processed in Negative Lab Pro - I'm investigating whether this is a better way to go than scanning - resulting image is 44MP !!

YO !!! Another 'Gift' Box !! A Kind Gent contacted me saying he wanted to " Say Good Bye" to some Photo gear and asked if I would like it ! so of COURSE -- I had to 'Smuggle it in to my Darkroom / Computer Room past the ever-Vigilant WIFE --- It contained Flash Meter, Vivitar 283 with all 'attachments' Un -Used ! Pentax Me Winder with rotten batteries still inside , extension tubes etc etc and a filthy Brown Case with a Filthy MPP British-Made 'MICROFLEX' TLR !! got to work on Camera - cleaned off body then took off focus hood and cleaned filthy mirror and screen top and underside using diluted Isopropyl Alcohol on soft cloth, checked inside of Top lens, cleaned outer lens surfaces wiht lens tissue and diluted Isopropyl Alcohol - NOW it is MUCH BRIGHTER to Focus ! I loaded with 7/ 1993 dated ORWO NP22 rated 64 ASA and processed in Crawley Formula FX-15 1+ 1 for 12 mins @ 20oC-- 13 would have been batter and scanned negs -- Taylor-Hobson; made 77.5 mm f3.5 'Micronar' lens is SHARP ! I used Rollei Bay 1 Orange Filter on some

I think your macro lens scan look pretty decent, certainly good enough for forum posts.
I don't use a calibrated screen or anything but they all seem to have a cast of some shade or another.
Besides dust/scratches I personally want to reproduce the frame exactly as it is, even if it is unfaithful to the scene, I like that uncertainty of perfect reproduction that characterizes film, I mean, nobody shoots Velvia with the intention of de-saturating in post.....or do they...I dunno..:confused:
To cut to the chase, if these frames do have a cast in your hand, I'm fully supportive of not changing that, they are what they are and to hell with adjustments.
If they don't then it could be my screen, or yours, or your choice to have a cast..(y)

Thanks, my experience of expired Portra160NC is that is does have a cast - so at the moment I'm putting it down to that! The main reason for using a camera/macro lens to scan is for speed (and better quality with 35mm film as I don't think my Epson V600 is very good with 35mm - though these shots were 645)
 
yeah, the leave it like it looks approach is a more ethically complicated choice with colour neg film..:LOL:, I balanced the Ektar shot though just to see what it was like..:)
I can't be bothered with scanning, its not what I want them to be so I'll be macro lensing for convenience, its much less faff than fannying about with scanners for what is a digitized image route to simple participation, you don't need gallery quality scans to contribute.

Aden park yesterday, first snow of the year.

Both shots taken with Nikon F4 and Kodak Gold 200 film. First shot with Nikon AF 20mm f2.8 D lens, second shot with Nikon 35mm F2 D lens.

I like that film, it's cheap but I like the colours and it scans well.

On the extreme left you can see the edge of the Port Talbot Steelworks, behind the mound are the three 'unloaders' at the tidal harbour, then the lovely red dog poo bin!
