Show us yer film shots then!

So I'm going to bring the standard of images on this page to the lowest of the low!

Appologies, but tough:p

As some of you will recall I acquired and refurbished a c1910 French Detective (9x12cm format) camera about a month ago.

At last i got to try it out with paper negs, It actually took three attempts as firstly I forgot to set focus distance, then I forgot to stop the aperture down, third time gave me a very overexposed ( long exposure mal calculated) image of an old cabin/ shack next door to where i live.

Basically the result is crap but it proves that the camera is light tight and the potential for half decent photographs is possible be they on paper negs, sheet film negs or glass plates.

Original scan of paper neg:

Inverted and curves adjusted slightly:

From a test roll of film in my newly acquired Zeiss Ikon Ikoflex.

This is my first MF experience: loading it was a pig (I mostly got it on the third attempt, but only 10.5 frames), exposure was well off and there is some light leakage. Excuses over!

This is straight out of the scanner (but the scanner did do a lot to the exposure & contrast)

Large format soon then :exit:

Put a roll through my Hi-Matic to see if it still works. It does. One of the few cameras I can take out in the pouring rain as it fits in a pocket.

Had quick Darkroom Printing Session today and have scanned the prints. One film was 2008 dated Ilford Delta 400 Pro half of which I did ion Promicrol and they came out 'thin' so I changed to my Home-Made ID11 1+1 and on giving the Ilford recommended time of 14 mins got horrendously Dense and Contrasty negs as mix mix of ID11 seems to have suffered from 'Increase in Activity. LUCKILY I have some very Old Ilfospeed Glossy Grade 1 whole plate size and they came out well on that. The NEXT film was half a roll of ORWO NP22 from my Rolleicord Vb 16-on and processed in my 'Promicrol 1+9' for 9 mins BUT that film came out a bit 'UNDER-developed' ! I think the PROMICROL is a bit Oxidised even though I squirt some Butane Lighter Fuel in to expel air. Next time i will give 11 mins @ 1+9 for the ORWO.

Something a bit different, this was scanned from 35mm negative on an Epson V600, taken in 1996 on Canon EOS1000F standard kit 35-70 zoom, Kodak Gold 200

I owned this 1977 TVR from 1990 to 2003, covered many thousands of miles (including over 70 trackdays!), and for a period in 1990/91 it was my daily driver. I mechanically rebuilt it in 1992 and continued to modify it throughout my ownership, taking the lazy Ford Essex from 138bhp to over 200bhp. I loosened the rocker studs competing in a Sprint at Goodwood in 2001 (I did beat my mate by 0.5 second so it was worth it!) and from then on the car really needed another full engine rebuild. With two small children and a house move, I decided to sell it in 2003, keeping the many memories - I kept the plate and sold that separately - the car went through a dealer and then was rebought and still in the same ownership today.

Nice looking car, a mate of mine used to do hill climbs in his TVR Tuscan back in the 90's/early 2000's. View: https://www.flickr.com/photos/wembley_1966/2324809746/

Yes Folks -- Super Sleuth PENTAXPETE got a scoop with his Trusty Asahi Pentax Spotmatic- F in the Sleepy Town of BRENTWOOD in Darkest ESSEX !! His keen observation through the grimy window of the derelict 'Dorothy Perkins Brentwood Branch ' ( now gone BROKE) rewarded him with a 'Murder Scene' which he snapped on 2008 outdated Ilford Delta 400 Pro and processed in home-made ID11 formula 1+1 for 9 mins @ 20oC. From my walk yesterday...

The good thing about the RB is that you can get low and still compose. No flippy out screen required!

Frustrated at not yet having an intrepid 10x8 enlarger kit ( it was due to be released last summer but no sign of it yet) , and my lack of discipline to sit for what seems an eternity processing scans on a computer, I resorted this evening to making contact prints from a couple of negs
Not really what I want as they are only 10 x8 ‘postcards’ lol but I have prints.
Perhaps they will give me encouragement to finish the scans and get the larger prints that I yearn for.

They're great, Asha. 10x8 is a very decent size for a print.

Cheers Chris, actually, as direct contact prints just using a board and piece of glass , I am pleased with the results.

Still yearn for a 10x8 enlarger though as I much prefer A3 prints.

Talking of which, this evening has seen me produce the first A3 inkjet print that I’ve done from a negative exposed though the Chroma Snapshot caméra.
