Show us yer film shots then!

These shots are from Ocean Park in Hong Kong. I had initially been pretty sceptical about this place before we went, but it ended up being awesome. It had roller coasters, scenic views, cable cars, and all sorts of animal and marine life exhibits (e.g., pandas, seals, etc.)

If not a book to share with others, then certainly some sort of "publication" ( meaning more than just a photo albulm) for your own personal viewing / pleasure perhaps adding suitable "commentary" whilst all is fresh in your minds from what looks to have been a superb time in China.

As Tom said it would be awesome.................not least of all to look back in future times at what was possibly / probably one of the, if not the happiest time of your lives.
 
Went out with this old Sanderson Quarter Plate camera last weekend for a couple of hours.

Had no particular shots in mind but did fancy a play about with the tilt/shift of the front standard simply to get a feel for what could be achieved.

All the results are straight off the scanner.....only adjustments, (at the scanning stage), being slight sharpening to all of them and curves adjustment to the 3rd shot as the cones where massively overexposed ( a calculation eror on my part of a long exposure at F/384 .....yes that's right an aperture of F/ three hundred and eighty four!!!!!:eek:) .

Although not the most interesting or creative pics, i simply wanted to share...........

Some OOD ( Jan 2013) Adox CHS 50 iso 3.25 x 4.25 ( Quarter plate ) film

My plans for the coming year are to possibly ( and I say possibly as to part with gear is very hard for me to do), dramatically reduce my collection and whilst holding onto some smaller format kit, to seriously look into going pretty much LF ( most likely 4 x 5)

I will be starting a purpose thread soon specifically for this said objective which i am looking at acheiving over the next 12 months (ish) as although I have some understanding of LF, it is limited and I need to ensure I sort myself out with the "correct gear for me" first time around.

All exciting stuff but i really do have to discipline myself and not rush into it head on and make stupid mistakes.
 
Realised I posted the first shot twice so changed the last one.

The dark "arch" at the top of No4 is not a bridge or similar .

LF users will be aware of how this effect can come about depending how the lens is situated in relation to the film plane.

I did it purposely to see how the perspectives of the foreground and the distance would look.

Quite interesting tbh but a lot to learn so as to know exactly what can be achieved.

That really helps me to realise my goal can be achieved :p .....I'll end up with even less room to move here at home! :D

@Andysnap ...HP5 is a film that i don't particularly like, or more to the point I never got decent results from it:(........Your shots on 13 year old OOD HP5 are better than most of what I ever achieved with same film in date:confused: Well done:thumbs:

that reminds me I need to destroy that packaging my "new" minty OM-1 arrived in yesterday ...........now where did I leave it ...PANIC :runaway::runaway::D

Thanks to you both for the kind words. The main reason I take photos is to print them and all of the China photos have already been printed 8"x8" and put into albums. I use Flickr just to have offsite backups in case the flat ever went up in smoke...

Those look like great books. Are the prints mounted or printed on the paper?

Do you have to pay for that service RJ ??

I have a flickr account (which i don't use enough) simply to post pics but the back up idea sounds sensible.

I back all my files up to disc but as you say if the worst happened.....:gag:

Thanks, Steven. I do it all old-school photo album style. I individually place each photo in the book and then write a bit about where/when it was taken underneath. I found some mounting squares on eBay that are awesome for doing this sort of thing.

Flickr gives you one whole terabyte of free space, so you can fit a lot of pictures. I don't usually put the full size up, but post many of my pics at a size that would allow me to reprint it at 8"x8" if the worst ever happened.

Thanks RJ ...... I would want to save reasonable sized files too so will take a closer look at the service offered.

Yep, no worries. There's not much to it really, you just post photos on Flickr and then they're accessible anywhere. If you have photos you don't want others to see, you can adjust the privacy settings appropriately.
 
Really liking those Rob, nice tonal range and good subjects as well.
 
Rob, a really nice set, particularly like the people shots, very natural and nicely composed
 


Taken many years ago on my first proper SLR a Canon AE-1 and a 50mm f1.8

Probably HP5 and quite underexposed. Scanned with Nikon Coolsan 4 and manipulated in LR4. Pulled out quite a lot of detail I didn't expect to see.
