Osh, that's a top shot.

First roll of Tri-x, much happier with it than the Kentmere 400 although it does tend to "cup" on itself. This roll was the one I just about ruined because the spiral slipped when I agitated it for the fix so was only partly fixed, didn't wash it properly in the end and I've ended up with some drying marks.

Sun behind the castle... behind the cloud by steveo_mcg, on Flickr

I've shot a few from here now (its near work), this time the castle was in the snow shower so has much lower contrast.

I shoot the castle a lot....

OM20 with Tri-x developed in D76.

Whats the best way to deal with this? I'm likely to have this problem soon as I want to try some portraits with the RB67 likely with a 90mm at the moment. I've got a prism but the whole assembly is way too heavy to lift up to eye level for framing, not for any length of time any way.

Despite making a mess of the film I did convince a few of my cycling mates to stand with their bikes while I played with the RB and I'm fairly happy the tripod will go high enough to keep the angles ok when I'm far enough back to get everything in frame in 90mm. Would need to get them to sit with anything longer though...

Loads more great photos....good job all

Asha, you're quite right. As it stands, given the conditions it was shot in, I'm really quite happy with the fact its not even softer/blurry

That shot of yours of the pier/jetty, are those two people doing the run of panic, normally accompanied by "crap, save the camera"?

Kentmere 100@50 in a minolta something-or-other that I dont like very much.
Also, first b&w film I developed properly in the proper chems.

There was me thinking that looks a lot like Bideford but the library is on the wrong side. Took me too long to realise the neg was flipped lol!

it wasn't flipped... it was merely placed in an entirely incorrect manner in the scanner :D

Lets say my scanning process has improved since then

More Velvia (and more moody this time!)...

I like moody and everything about that shot, lots of great shots on your flickr photostream too.

Personally I prefer Velvia 100 myself.

Thanks those pictures look great. I've never tried Velvia 100 - in what way is it different to Velvia 50?

I think Velvia 50 is more or less the "original" Velvia; There appears to be some argument about whether Velvia 100 (or 100F, which I think has been discontinued... or the other way round) is as "good". I've found it (one film so far!) brilliant but capricious; could not have predicted which shots would come out well!

Meant to add: those two Velvia shots from Abbandon are great!

Two fantastic shots.

Its a bit higher contrast in my experience and whilst it offers the same high saturation, oranges become reds etc it is a bit different to the 50 version in how colours are rendered (although the blues are still lovely and highly saturated).

At least unlike the 100F version (now discontinued) it tries to be similar to its slower sibbling as 100F was good but not in the same way as it it had much reduced saturation and was more 'normal' with colours. Personally I preferred Kodak E100VS as it had a similar saturation profile to 100F but you could also use it with people (skin tones didn't go as red) and had more 'controlled' saturation (plus it was about £3 a roll cheaper in 35mm!).

Two using a closeup lens on the Pentax-M 135mm, looking for "macro" shots. Just got the film back (bit late for POTY Feb, perhaps a good thing!). Portra 400, which I do quite like (first film).

Will, that is just a wonderful portrait, the LH light and RH shadow is a little to much down the middle for me, maybe just offset would improve, the focal point is a bit high and the eye,s would flatter more if hit right on, but never the less, fantastic portrait and some day I hope I could achieve what you have.
