Show us yer film shots then!

Do any of you with Electro 35 use hoods? The shots on a roll from the summer were full of ghosts and flare.

Freecom, I do use a hood on the camera, it's a Hoya screw in hood, quite long but not long enough to vignette the lens.

But I also shoot with Yashica Tele and Wide auxiliary lenses. I don't have a hood for these and have never had up issues with flare.

I don't personally but I have not had the camera for that long so it is something that I may look in to.

A standard 55mm screw in hood? Does it block the viewfinder at all?

Norters, so essentially the UK hasn't been sunny enough for long enough that you can check :bonk:

well - the Yashica specific hood is a straight job, but it's a 57mm and clamps over the filters... but I'm pretty sure a standard 55mm straight screw hood of a similar depth wouldn't be too much of a problem.

This is a very nicely composed and very strong 6x6 monochrome. Your framing has in my view really maximised the power of your excellent Yashica square shooter.

Thanks Adrian. I will admit that this was a shot I had had in mind for a few weeks before hand and I spent a long while finding the right place before taking it so I'm pleased it works.

I leave the Yashica push on rubber hood permanently attached to my 35GT. It doesn't obscure the viewfinder as much as a screw in 55mm rubber hood. Having said that it doesn't stop the flare much. I think the clamp on one shown in the link would do a better job at the expense of blocking more of the viewfinder (and at the expense of £35!). I love the camera but it is prone to flare when the sun's off to the side and can also produce big halo rings round street lamps at night. I find that straight into the sun it's not too bad though.

It will be grittier because it's a budget film, it probably uses old emulsion technology to keep costs down, thus giving grainier images

What are you developing it in? I tried some earlier in the year and was happy enough with the stuff, it was cheap though so perhaps I am being a little too forgiving.

This and some others on my stream are Kentmere 100 done in D74 (RHS).

Rodinal, its the only developer I've got for film.

I much prefer the feel I get from the plusx

I'm pretty new at this but I do wonder if its a matter of film and cheap dev not playing well together in the case of the Ketmere and Rodinal.

From what I've read, that would appear to be the case... wish I'd read that before I'd ordered the kentmere, but hey ho. Still got some plusx which I do like, and a roll of hp5 which I'm expecting to be grainy, so will take that into account.

And a very fine image for your first post. Welcome too!

i have finally started making my own paper negatives with my own brew silver gelatin emulsion.
IMG-4.jpg

my very own version of fox talbots "oriel window" happened this morning
i can include it here as it is essentially film, a latent image was produced then developed out and then fixed
here it is inverted and flipped
invertandflip.jpg

here is an earlier experiment, an image produced in the same way of developing trays on a counter top
IMG_0001-2.jpg

flipped and inverted
invertflip2.jpg

they aer taken with a 4x5 camera that i have also made so apart from the paper they aer on and the optics in the lens, they are totally homemade

They are really good.

Is that camera one of those swing lens machines?

Very jealous! I love panoramas, especially ones that make them in camera. Some lovely shots.

:agree:

There really good.

I saw a very cheap p+s panorama, but it turned out to only take one frame and mask off the top and bottom. Frankly I was a little disappointed.

These make a really excellent Norfolk and Suffolk travelogue. Great eye for a good scene , vibrant clours and a very quirky aspect ratio fromm te idiosyncratic Horizon. a lovely camera producing very fine images, clearly it is in good hands!

Liking both of those Rich, very sharp.

Bit more colour after the last few black and white ones. A few puppets for a arts thing just before the festival. Just got round to scanning them...

Does anyone know what causes the marking on the Instax picture? guessing I touched it or applied pressure while it was developing...

I kind of like the flare off it too!

That's the one, shape of the pentagonal aperture. It ended up all over my image though, which is why I was looking for hood options.

Resolving that is a bit on the back burner though, mostly using medium format when I shoot at the moment.

Just got this off the scanner after my second bout of home colour developing with the Rollei Digibase kit. The colours work out great but I'm not sure yet whether the film or the chemistry is responsible for the graininess of the neg (doesn't look it here, but compared to lab-developed film it seems slightly worse).
Very pleased with they way the Olympus fisheye lens handled the bright sun - I was expecting flare but there is very little. Also interesting how the curves that are really there in this scene interact with the fishiness....

A few from the first (test) roll through my recently acquired ETRS.

Adox CHS 100 / Rodinal

All taken in "A" mode using the AE-II prism finder to see what results the average metering system has to offer.

No adjustments to exposure made to these...negs simply scanned, reframed/levelled and some dust spots removed.

Tbh, Overall I'm very pleased with them.
