Set this up prior to having a barbecue just to finish off a roll of film. And it turned out to be the only shot worth scanning.

Thank you. If I ever got serious doing this (hah!), I would love to do something like that - it would make for a fantastic series, and no doubt each subject would have a very interesting and diverse set of tales to tell.

That's wonderful light Alastair

Took out some old negs and scanned in some stuff I'd had done in a lab a while ago to see what difference it made. Wow...

Okay - Haven't been shooting much recently, but I have been wading through a bunch of old photographs, and felt like sharing a few period pieces from my days as a bit of a hill-nut :) Not great art, and were never intended as so, but they mean a lot to me.

And does it seem just like yesterday? Now what would be fun is to guess the date of the photos. Let's see, leather boots, short-short pants, skin tight shirt, large sunglasses, bandana around the neck, no high-tech polymers, no neon colors... 1978-1982?
 
Well my grandchildren came over during the week and it was off to the model village in Beaconsfield Buckinghamshire. Today popped down to Asda and he did three films to CD in 55mins, erm but he scanned all three films to one CD when I wanted one for each roll, anyway total cost was cheaper @ £7.
Ermm I won't bore you by posting 30 shots ;), but just a few on superia 200asa.

Only ones I have that are worth showing hahaha Kodak Pro 100 on Nikon F3. First image was using a Nikon Series E 50mm 1.8 prime, and second image was using a Nikkor AIS 80-200mm f/4.5. I want some Delta 125 but it's so darn hard to find here!

I know what you mean abour HP5+ Jim, though I'm not really a grain man at all, unless it's being used in the production of alcohol :beer:

I used to love it but it just seems to detract from the images now. Perhaps my tastes are growing up! ;)
 
Oh - I like it in context - maybe for an available light band shoot in a dingy pub/bar, I'm not averse to grain the size of hailstones, but most of my film-shooting career was based around getting as little grain in the shot as possible, and it's just stayed with me.

Actually - how rude of me not to mention - I just love the shot with the elephant - was it in the Natural History Museum ?

I agree it has its place, dark and dingy gig photography etc but I think I will look for something a little finer grained. I have some Tmax and Tri-x here, hopefully one of those will do!

Correct for the place for the shots too, natural history museum. We went on Saturday and it was mental. And the dinosaurs were closed!
 
Last time I visited London, I was 10 years old, on a primary school trip! Must have made a certain impression!

Not a bad memory then. Mind you, after this most recent visit my wife did comment that the place seemed stuck in the '70's!
 
yep - 1973... Did the Science Museum in the morning (still remember seeing apollo 10 command module and thinking "thats been to SPACE :wow:") and the Natural History in the afternoon.

The science museum has actually moved on since then, although the space section is still truly awesome. They also have quite funky lighting in there that is good for photos.

Afternoon all! How goes? Long time no speak!

I've been keeping an eye on this thread but haven't had much time to post of late. Some bits of recent work below. Must say, I am impressed with the overall high and improving standards on here!

I haven't been shooting much recently as I've been re-scanning all my negs after a terminal HD failure (Glad they weren't digi shots :)) and getting to grips with my new printer (epson 4800!!)

You may have seen a couple of those before. The Wales one is actually a pano of 2 5x4 stitched together. Has made a lovely 17" x 30" print to hang on my wall :)

Stunning once again, mate... always get a little excited when I see you're name pop up as posting on here, despite the overwhelming urge to sell all my gear and take up some hobby I have more aptitude for, I get after viewing your stuff !
 
Great picture, just really like the way you've brought out the light on the bridge and the foreground detail :clap:

Bloody long walk hiking the LF gear, missed sunrise proper, nearly got blown away, ruined one exposure by inserting the duckslide between the camera and holder, instead of into the holder, messed up 2 exposures and ruined the other 3 with uneven development (I was lazy, and forgot stand development isnt sensible for shots with large areas of even toned sky)

One good exposure. Forgot I had it until I went to develop some other shots hanging around in the freezer :)
