A lot better, but as you have the edit ticked,I took the liberty.

It's gone through Photobucket so I hope it is OK.

Nice! I think the slight cast is a peculiarity of the Xpan, the film, and the scanner combination.

The same film, taken through a Bronica ETRS 120...

Nice portrait of the dog best one I have seen for a while.

Your magenta cast I doubt very much if it is to do with the XPan more likely the film scanner combo. I have recently been shooting with Fuji NPH 400 & 160 print film and I get a hell of a magenta cast when scanning it. Now got a profile that removes it.

Not just a dog, but, if I am correct a spaniel and to boot a Welsh springer spaniel.

Just wonderful working dogs, my Dizzy lived for work until the age of seventeen, I love her to bits still. B&W English she was.:love:

...and I sometimes get a slight magenta colour cast from Asda dev and scan, I've always assumed "Oh well" it's because I use OOD film and wasn't worried because it's easily corrected in PS.

I have been testing out my new 90mm before taking some proper shots.

A few from a trip to the park in Preston today. Minolta X-300, 28mm 1.7 Minolta prime and Superia 200. I know that compositionally these are a bit crappy, the exercise today was to see if the lens was functioning correctly as it was an Ebay purchase:

Thanks for looking :)

Uploaded two today from Amsterdam, both shot on my Yashica Mat, T-Max 400 film and T-Max developer.

and obligatory 'bicycle leaning on bridge rails' shot:

^^ great shots, especially the second one :)

Did you use any filters when shooting these?

Nope, no filters - T-Max 400 is an absolutely wonderful film. I will confess that it has had a bit of sharpening after scanning, but I am using a £25 second hand scanner and having had a look at the negative under a loupe I'm guessing it's the scanner more then the camera at fault...

but thank you, to get that feedback from someone who produces some awesome stuff (still bowled over by those first Acros shots) is really nice. Talking about that, you got anymore coming soon?

What fault are you refering to?? Did you get a bit of softness from the scanning? It's pretty much standard to have to sharpen after scanning from what I've heard/read.

Thanks alot for the kind words :) It's a great motivator to keep ploughing on

Out of the 2 rolls I shot (so 20 negs), pretty much all of them were usable, I may post another one up tomorrow as I'm on the laptop right now. I've got another roll of acros loaded up and ready to go, along with another 2x rolls of acros, 1x roll of portra 160, 2x rolls of tri-x 400, and 10x rolls of delta in the fridge. By the time I'm done...you're gonna be bored of seeing my shots lol

Yeah, just the need to sharpen slightly after scanning. Me too, it just happens that I like to post process as little as possible so it doesn't feel right to me! I've got used to it though, it's just one of those little things that needs to be done.

I'm perfectly okay with that, bring it on! Is that the new Portra 160 - can't remember if it was you posting in that recent thread. If so, that will be a great film to do some of your portraiture on.

Yeah thats the one, the new 160, from what I've been told it sounds amazing, really can't wait to shoot it. The client for my up and coming fashion shoot in August has requested I shoot some colour and black and white film on the day so I'm just about to order a few more rolls of it. It's vintage clothing so should suit very well I feel. Fingers crossed it goes well, I've never shot colour other than through my dad's olympus trip 35mm when I was about 8 years old and younger lol

Yep - a scanned image is no different to a RAW file straight out of a dijikal camera. A touch of sharpening is quite acceptable - some software will have different sharpening settings as part of the initial capture phase - personally, I'd sooner import the shot flat, and give the shot the degree of sharpening within CS5, that I judge it to need.

I shot some new Portra 400 and thought that it produced some really pleasing results, so no doubt you'll get the same. Look forward to it already!

I try to let the Epson software do as little as possible Mark, and then do it myself in CS5 as well. But I don't spend anymore than about a few minutes on each one that I do post up - the camera really does the legwork, half a century old camera and still producing shots that I'm pleased with.

Remember this shot, a church with standing room only ;)

Well another shot to show it couldn't have gone back far because of the house.

Oh btw:- OOD Jessops film and Fuji 50mm lens

A shot from the end of the test roll (Ektar) through the charity shop Yashica D..

The lens seems very prone to flare shooting towards the sun, but the results shooting with the sun behind the plane of the land are looking very good.

Killer photo ! and I will rarely comment on a flower pic. This one is great !

Finally bought a film scanner, time to crack out the TLR and get some summer shooting done!

(a repost, but the old one was a rubbish print scan)

Do you know, the quality of the shots in this thread is getting better all the time. To the point where I'm embarrassed to put my feeble efforts up. Still, nothing ventured etc...

Some shots from my first roll of Acros 100. Not sure about it yet.

"Up above"

The tones are gorgeous dude. Did you develop these yourself?

Looks like you've got a bit of flare in the upper rhd corner of the first shot but I may be wrong.

I like the compositions

Yup, developed myself. T-Max Developer 1+4 again.

Yeah, it was even worse originally, I had to tone it down after the scan - luckily a 16bit grayscale scan retains quite a lot of detail, so modifying the highlights wasn't too difficult. However, if I went any further the reflections in the glass would start becoming unnatural so I left it. Thanks once more!

Hmmmm I may have to try T-Max developer. Ilfosol 3 is currently on my shopping list, but as I have no experience with the chems so far I don't know how well it's rated compared to other develops?

Ilfosol seems to be regarded as just another developer. To be honest, aside from Rodinal and specific films, most developers seem to be pretty standard and give reasonably similar results. Some are speed increasing, some will give minutely sharper results, and some will keep for longer but they are all roughly similar. T-Max Dev is meant to be more suited to finer grain T-Max film, but that's only because I saw the results of other people's shots and wanted to try it myself. I think I used Ilfosol for my very first development, seemed satisfactory enough.

Satisfactory can do one...

I'll be developing acros 100 and tri X 400, what are your thoughts on what to use? (applies to all willing to contribute :) lol )

Never shot Tri-X (I bought a roll that came recently to try actually), but both of those film emulsions tend to be considered to go well with general developers. Ilfosol isn't much of a hearts and minds developer... maybe XTOL or HC-110?

Well - I have to admit to a certain fondness for Perceptol with Acros 100 - I don't often do fast film tbh, so couldn't comment on how it goes with Tri-X 400.

Amazing shots Rick. Love the first shot. Excellent depth and the tones are incredible. I thought it was Ilford PanF at first. Might have to try this Tmax.

I went to the woods today to run a test roll through my newly serviced camera, here are a few shots on Delta 100 dev'd in ID11
