Tried my hand at another shoot. However there was not much light so a lot of misfocused shots. Could have done with iso 1600.

An Epson V500, the web sized shots are nothing compared to a 4800dpi scan. Mahoosive!

My school had [still has] a Field Study Centre in a converted chapel at Talybont.

And I lived not far up the road at Clyro near Hay in the early 90s. :)
 
I put a different version of this shot up on a different thread. However, I got a new scanner at the weekend, so thought I'd use it for a scan test. In particular, I wanted to see how my custom slide holder would work.

Camera is a Pentax 645N with 75mm lens. Velvia 50

Does the scan do the pic justice? Full res is 35MPix!

Looks good John - even if the hood did vignette a little. To be fair, I think digital users like myself have got a little spoiled by the vignette correction available on digital, and in fairness, once you get much past 28mm on full frame, any lens hood that actually does any good whatsoever will intrude into frame a touch... I mean - have you seen the size of the standard hood for the EF 17-40L - it's the diameter of a soup plate!

spoke to this chap at the Mill ^^^.....turns out he was French visiting son-in-law

said I often visited my brother in Brittany ...he was from Finisterre -- and had been to La Roche Bernard too = instant mates.!

he explained this is the old way of gathering hay ..onto a sheet - then fold the corners to the centre, and throw over shoulder - walk to barn

rather disparagingly he then said.................. ''but the carrying part is usually done by the women''...................:D

Just got my Canoscan 9000f this week so I've been playing with scanning some old negs and trying out different bits of software. Finally settled on Silverfast Ai [for now!].

Here's an old shot from my time in Nepal in 1993, prior to any serious photographic interest; unknown camera [certainly not an SLR though], and mystery 200 speed film stock:

Hi Folks.
I have not been shooting much of late, but when I have been shooting, my weapon of choice has been my Canon AE-1 with a single lens. The FD28. I just got some rolls back from CVS...These are from a street walk in the jewelry district in DT LA with UltraMax 400

The Mennonites where out in force. These folks have to be some of the nicest most docile people in the world.
