Hmm. Apart from the last one, you seem to be too far away when you should be closer... and too close when you should be further away?

I guess you are saying i should have been closer for the Violin boy, and the castle; but where should I have been further away?

(l'd have loved to be closer on the 1st shot, but SWMBO is just outside the frame :lol:)

well Ujjwal all shots of people are interesting, but the castle shot is not very good, after many failures myself photographing castles it's not easy and you need some luck with the light, weather or whatever as well.
This shot I got everything as best as I could and thought this is it, in the viewfinder...and cocked up developing the film...oh well

whoa ! :D thanks guy's.

For the record, they were all shotforthe assignment and I enjoyed doing it.

The ruin of Sandal Castle is lit by direct sunlight at dusk, red filter with 1 stop compensation on Delta 100 and ID-11
The "Deep" building in Hull on B/W is the same but with midday direct sunlight, the colour ones are Velvia 100F.
Broadcasting tower in Leeds is 8am direct sunlight and 100F.

Metering was all in camera, there is very little to get wrong when both subject and background are equally lit, with sun in frame things would be different.

Love the ruin shots Joxby.

That big white circle behind the stage is very ominous, Ian! Cool photos though.

I'm starting to neglect my other cameras now that I have my ETRS... It's just so crisp though!

Mix of TMAX 400 @ 800 and Tri-X:

Love the tones and over all what a beautiful image!

Hi folks. Here is a picture of my daughter Elizabeth doing what she spends her free time doing. Shooting pictures and drawing. I gave her my K1000 and an assortment of lenses about a year ago that included a 24, 28, 35, 50 and 135mm lenses. I also gave her a FUJI F100FS Bridge cam at the same time.. Recently I gave her my K-7 with the kit lens + she has access to all my Pentax lenses. Anyway, the reason I bring this up is because 80% of the time she is shooting the K1000. It is with her always. She keeps it in here bag.

Here are a few of her pics. I had the film developed by samys. It is ilford XP-2
Some of her high school friends.

Not sure about these dudes...Actually they are nice kids.

I thought this was a self portrait, but then noticed she was focusing on her other best friend Jennifer

Cross processed some Velvia 100, turned out a lot more red than I expected but decided to leave the colour cast.

***This has got to be one of my favorite images of the entire thread.:thumbs:***

Thank you, and always find your people and places shots interesting.

Here is some of the odd things she shoots.

Seriously impressed Javier... ...clearly takes after her very talented old man... :D

I'm really loving her distinct style and she has managed superb tonality and interest in every single one of those shots... ...excellent sets and thanks so much for sharing a new talent with us... ;)

:p

Starastin, on the 'New Toy' thread asked for some output from my new Epson V500 scanner.

I think this frame has been on before, but this one is re-scanned and saturation tweaked very slightly.

F5 with reala 100.

v500.jpg

Not the best demo image for web work, but when the image appeared in PSE it was nearly like being back there at the dockside - the patterns in the sand - rust on the boats....

The V500 seems particularly adept at scratch removal too.

Fabulous piece of kit for the price :)

Got my first rolls of Portra 160VC done yesterday. It really does live up to the "Vivid Colour" in its moniker.

Yummmm.... by Pam & Ben, on Flickr

I tried it out on some portraits and, unsurprisingly, it turned out quite garish, a bit akin to using Velvia to do the same I guess, but for scenery and landscapes it's quite nice. I'll try the NC version next time I think and see how that turns out.

Some shots I didn't get to consider for the Architecture Film Challenge since Fuji took over two weeks to get the film back to me :|

I adore the looks ! could you please post a portrait as well ? :)

Here's a thought Starastin - why don't you get one of your cameras, load up some film, and shoot something yourself? In around 1400 postings, I can only recall maybe 3-4 shots from you... I mean, I'm hardly the worlds most prolific poster myself, but I do occasionally get the odd shot out for people to look at.

There's nothing more sad than a camera sat on a shelf and not getting used - stick some film in one of 'em and go take some pictures, instead of trawling fleabay

not much to photograph if I sit home all the time. although, I have some undev'd rolls of boring shots.

Well - if you're housebound - why not pick up some kit to do macro-shots or something like that ? I had a spell earlier this year after dropping the bike where I couldn't get out, in the space of a month and a half I think I cleared out half of ebay - so I know how it goes, but since then I make a point of always doing something, even if it's macro or tabletop shooting (none of which ends up in here as it's (whispers) usually on Digital...)

Even Arthur and Ujjwal, who have been probably 2 of the more avid collectors of camera kit seem to be concentrating more on shooting with the cameras they have at the moment.

I'm still sitting here, irritated and frustrated editing digital camera shots from this weekends Steam Traction Rally, trying to get a good HDR picture for this months POTY competition, so I apologise if i'm sounding a bit tetchy at the moment!

didn't go, it looked rainy, Sunday and Sandal went the same way..:(

Didn't miss much - a bunch of Fred Dibnah Wanabees, a dozen old diesel tractors, and a jumble sale of old rusty tools and army-store cast-offs. And I didn't find a Beer Tent. Fred would have been turning in his grave - whats a steam rally without a beer tent!

Didzis, here are two. Porta VC, Contax G1, 90mm. Scanned from the print, ( rather than the negative) so the colour fidelity and sharpness is gone, and all that crap dust etc. The trick is to over expose by 1/3 - 2/3 for asian skin. Club 35 adjusts manually, so that helps too

Actually, I may have to revise my opinion re portraits. The ones I found garish were shot all in the same tungsten light in our kitchen and look over saturated, others however look more natural [despite direct flash :nono:]:

Love those Javier. Very LA.

A few from Beaulieu Motor Museum all taken on a Ross Ensign 16-20.

They're great! What are the lines of small dots that run perfectly straight through the startrails photo? Are they planes?
