Show us yer film shots then!

How can I hope to compete with the quality of images you guys keep throwing up here... :suspect:

Anyway... having bought this last year...

1. RB 67 Pro & 90mm f3.5...

Mamiya_RB67_Pro_SD.jpg

I thought I had better at least try it out when we went to Skye last June...

So here is the first frame from that trip to Skye, albeit I had taken four 'practice' shots before we went... ;) ...and having just received them back from Peak Imaging yesterday... ...although to be fair I did only send them off last week...

2. Skye - across the Loch from the holiday cottage we stayed at...

RB_67_-_Skye_01.jpg

Not the best of subjects, or shots, but not so bad for a practice run in a strange land... :D

Incidentally this image compares well, or not as the case may be, to the one taken at the same time with my Holga in the HOLGA tastic... THREAD (image No. 3.) ... :suspect:

:p

***Double exposure or fogging ?***

Well is there a pattern? Did every frame come out like this one?

I think you need a bit of sun for that shot, in Photoshop it does brighten up using shadows and highlights....of course it's cheating but everyone is doing it now.

Thanx Ex... ... you are right of course and I did do a little 'cheating' before posting... ... clearly not enough but then again one cannot precisely mirror the real thing... :D

I'm not too bothered as it really was just me trying to get used to the workings of the beast... ;) ... of course I have forgotten it all already and will have to start all over next time I dust it off... :suspect:

Also cheating can save a picture, in this shot something went wrong with my home developing, exposure or whatever...it's a poor quality shot for medium format, taken in Galway.

Last time I posted shots on this thread, I put up some from Chester Zoo and complained about a red mark across the film.
Well here are some more from the next film I took.
No red marks here so I think it was probably down to the film being out of date.

Anyway, here are the pics. Any comments appreciated :)

2. Love this pic personally. The poor thing looks sad behind her fence :(

Lens, film etc? They look sharp and the film looks unusual?

Canon EOS 5 with Tokina 20-35mm f/2.8 - really ultra wide angle cracking lens, I do miss it. I gave up film now though.

The wide angle really suits this shot - fantastic quality of colour here

Nice and grim - me likes

Bala Lake Railway in 1995 taken with Fuji 800 I loved that film and hope that the current version I have just ordered is as good

I'd never have thought that was ISO800 film - pretty sharp and nice detail on the steam.

Woodsy, those first two are spectacular - nice movement in the grass on the first and sweet dof/bokeh in no. 2

I'm way behind spouting rubbish..:D

The lights not too bad, I think its a bit cool in colour, but it could just be my eyeballs are still spinning from velvia..

Nice and sharp Knikki, smooth too, is that Murray Walker ?

Anyway, here are the pics. Any comments appreciated :)

I like em, nice and natural, fences are a complete pain but handy..

That looks like velvia...maybe, if it isn't its some colour neg I don't shoot.
Don't give up film, you won't be able to hang with the cool kidz..:D

Yeah its gritty, there's nothing in the blacks on this scan though, where is that, it looks kinda familiar..

sweet colours in that..

Ok, here are a few from my first ever roll of 120, and the first roll I put through the FM2n. Both FP4+.

Thoughts appreciated :)

That first ones not quite there, I dunno if its the light or it needs a bit of contrast, it has a lot of mid tone.
I'm down with the beachy's though, especially the last one.
Lone deckchairs get on to my film all the time, there's one from Cleethorpes on some 100F waiting for the soup.

Don't go to Cleethorpes btw...:shake:

Oops forgot that bit :o

Taken with Canon EOS 1000f, 70-300mm lens with a Boots brand ISO 200 film (not the best I know). Got a decent Kodak film in it now so will be interesting to see if they turn out better.

Thanks joxby :)

Here are a few from the annual Isle of Wight ploughing competition which was held last week. The camera was a Kodak Retina Reflex III from about 1959 with a 135mm Schneider lens. The film was Kodak Ektar 100 and they were all taken at f8 and 1/250s.

Well my newest camera in my arsenal (or oldest) is the Nikon FM. I stuck a film through it to see what it was like and I have been quite pleased with the results. These are the first ever film and I was just getting used to the camera. A few are a little over exposed even though I chose under rather than over if the choice was one or the other.

All shots taken out on location at Rivington and processed/scanned at Tescos.

Nice shots . . . is your whole family shooting Nikon now :p?

Evening Wail,

Yes thats about it, my eldest daughter got a D60 last year for her 18th, my youngest son is taking photography A level next year and he is getting Helen's D40x. This is my younger daughter who is also wanting a Nikon now (and joining TP too)! Only my eldest son hasn't got a Nikon !

Do I see the D200 going off to him, and you getting the D300s as a back up ;)

No no, D800 as main camera and D700 as backup....... no no evil thoughts.....

No I really liked the D200 and wouldn't have upgraded to the D300 or D300s as most of my stuff was in good light. I only discovered low light photography after getting the D700. I will keep the D200 as I will use it for my day job and as a backup. I plan to spend any extra money on glass. Glass holds its value and lasts much longer. I cannot see me needing anything better than the D700 for a very long time. I am a little concerned that the D40x might not be ideal for him though if he is doing photography but a lot of my glass should still auto focus on his camera.....

You just need that one extra lens...... just need it, then that's it...... no I meant one more lens...... but but I need something faster, longer or wider........ just one more.......

No I've no idea what you are talking about.

Liking the scale you have achieved in these Spence... ... one thing bothering me this end though... ... is it me or are they a bit too 'grey' overall and lacking a little in contrast...

Might just be my monitor of course... :suspect:

:p

Too much talk of digital in here, cut it out or you'll be banished to the 'other' side of the forum;)

Humdedum.

2 from me, mebbe more laters. Also in Landscape forum.

That first one looks.....err.....BIG

gotta be depth of focus or something

everything is the same physical size when posted, but you can just tell when something is....er....BIG.

does that make sense..

*thinks* Is it because to get that much in a scene we have to use a very wide angled lens on smaller formats, therefore we are used to seeing the sides warped to chuff and the middle shrunk to a pinhead..:D

I agree, but nonetheless nice images ;) I've captured most of Portland over the years, however many photographs you take of the same location, the light is never the same and the end product is always pretty unique (well it is with film, you know - proper photography ). I love the texture of stone.

Nigel.
