Show us yer film shots then!

I picked up one of those DIY TLR kits from Waterstones recently. Three odd hours to build it, and I'd heard some horror stories about it, but set out with a heart full of hope and a thermos full of coffee...

So far so good(ish)

Not exactly great quality, but I've seen worse...

Oh... oh no...

Well... it looks nice on a rustic looking book case I suppose

Is that the plastic one that takes 35mm film?

My step daughter bought me one for Christmas a few years ago but it's just stayed on the mantle shelf.

Nice. And welcome. I have a folding Voigtlander Bessa but composition is such a pain!
Thanks. Yep, composition can be hit or miss with the old folders. I have to confess that I cheated with my favourite No.2 Autographic and attached one of the those cheap tele-wide brightline finders. It's not perfect, but it's a heck of a lot easier than the tiny prism finder.

Mine is basically a "sports" finder :ROFLMAO:

Like I said, I didn't mind the mechanics of actually using the camera, but I couldn't handle not knowing if things were framed properly - if I had bought a rangefinder one or something, it might have been different.

I normally use my old folders on a tripod and use a smartphone with a viewfinder app to estimate the composition. Obviously, I'm not photographing moving things.

If I'm photographing something that moves, it's usually a Dartmoor pony. Here's a couple with a film that my local camera shop has recently started selling and recommended. It's called Dragon Film No.1 and it turns out that it's actually respooled Svema NK-2SH motion picture stock. It's not the cheapest option, but I have to say that I like the look it gives. These are with the Olympus XA1, my everyday pocket point-and-click.

The Olympus XA1 has become my go-to 35mm camera. My beloved old Pentax K1000 that I've owned since 1980 doesn't get a look in anymore.

Some from my recent visit to Norfolk and Suffolk (with a few cameras).
From a couple of cams,

Note the scratches... I hope these were on the film that I loaded incorrectly from a bulk loader (must remember- open the gate before winding!!!) and not from the camera.

Ah! no scratches from the second roll....

And a couple from a c1958 Baldessa 1b on Fomapan 200 in Bellini Duo Step.

New thatch underway.

The Baldessa chewed up one film about half way through. I think the mechanics are a bit rough on thin film. Two other rolls successfully shot, so just an isolated issue maybe.

Boston has 2 phone boxes to show the younger generation what making a phone call involved .

There are still some working ones where I live, as there are still some spots on Dartmoor with no mobile phone signal. Apparently there's a legal requirement to provide phone boxes for communities in such cases, although they tend to get a bit overgrown from lack of use. This one is Ilford XP2 in a Pentax K1000 with. . . um. . . a lens. . . maybe a Tamron 28mm?1.jpg

so I was GIVEN another Russian ZENIT but the LENS was a newer version with ' Auto-Diaphragm' an dthe ZENIT need a 'Pre-Set ' lens , The lens was a 58mm f2 HELIOS 44M-4 so I put it onto my PRAKTICA MTL3 on which I was trying a 1.55 V battery instead of the now-illegal Mercury 1.3 V and loaded with an outdated 'ACTIVA 400 ' probably KONICA which T set 200 ASA The LENS is very good -- I got great results at f 2.8, f4.5 ,f 5.6 and FULL APERTURE ( The Fire Engine One in Brentwood High Street)
