Show us yer film shots then!

My Olympus OM-10 has a light leak. Possibly many light leaks, and a mirror that does not behave. So it ruined two films, creating these trippy psychedelic effects!

Would light leaks cause that purple tint? The second one looks like a light leak, but the first one looks more like a film fault of some sort?

I assumed that was the cause - the mirror had noticeable lag when firing, and the meter was dodgy too. The film was stored in the fridge, so I hope it's not the film.

Image Auto correct in Photoshop works for the first shot but a light leak somewhere as you can even see it coming from the sprocket holes in the film.

To be honest, I'm not sure of the cause myself. Most light leaks I've seen tend to result in warm toned glows on the image depending on the severity of the leak, but colour shifts have tended to be a result of a film fault or something to do with the processing. I'm far from an expert though and am more curious as to the cause than trying to offer any authority on it. :)

Ah does it? I wonder if if was the film, in addition to the light leaks. I have to say, I've never had such vibrant results from a mistake before.

It might have been a processing error, but I've used AG Photolab so many times, and they've been so good, I'd be surprised if it was them. Maybe I'll test another roll of the trippy Ektar and see!

I wasn't convinced by this image at first but on a second look I quite like it.

Well it's easy to prove whether it might be the lab or camera if you have another spare camera and that is to use a roll of Vista and choose preferably a sunny day and take say 8 shots, then put the film into another camera...if you don't know how to do this, I or other members will explain.

I could do that, I suppose. I don't fancy using up a roll of Ektar if it's not the film - the other roll of Agfa Precisa I put into the OM-10 came out over-exposed too, so I'm inclined to blame the camera.

Well I'm always looking for something to shoot and found these, the cars have been dumped and are around 2002-2004 by the no plates. Further on under the flyover found a breakers yard or whatever all shots on Vista. My next interest is a high bridge over streams that goes no where and not used, well I can take a shot looking down but have to find away of taking a shot from ground level..hmm might need fishing wellies or a boat

I wonder if this image might be very underexposed (possibly due to shooting towards the sun) and the scan has tried to autocorrect the exposure, leading to the colour shift ?

Cracking shots Brian, I love these sort of images, Great use of light, contrast and very stark shadows.

Thanks Adrian.......No one would have driven these cars on the road (in the state they were in) to get to this area and no one would bother to transport them to dump when you could take them to a breakers yard and get a few quid...so I reckon they were nicked, driven here in good condition and smashed like dodgems

I took out my newly-refurbished 'Old Friend' my original Asahi Pentax S3 1961 that I sold 40 years ago and was given back as 'Not Working -- would I like it back ? '
Film was 2007 Fuji Acros 100 rated 100asa and processed in Home-made MICROPHEN 1+3
The original 'Auto-Takumar' seems to give good results after being cleaned of years of DUST !

My latest camera is a Yashica 230AF which is a bit of a hybrid camera. It is auto focus and auto exposure but nothing like the Canon and Nikon offerings from the same time. I have enjoyed using it - I found the slider controls easy to use. Here are the best from my test film (film is Agfa Vista 200 ASA developed and scanned by Snappy Snaps in Lincoln):

Well, I finally got to test out and experiment with my latest camera/lens combination (Rolleiflex SL66E/Leitz Hektor 120mm f/2.5).

The good news:
  • This combo is a shallow depth of field monster, seemingly surpassing even the Hasselblad Zeiss 110mm f/2 and Contax Zeiss 80mm f/2 between both the fast aperture and the tilt capabilities.
  • I can get 13 shots per roll of 120.
The potentially bad news:
  • As a projection lens, I'm stuck at f/2.5 at all times, so I had better like that shallow depth of field. At least I also have the 80mm Planar to use with the camera.
  • The lens could be relatively low in contrast, but it's tough to tell yet. I'll reserve judgement until I see a colour roll.
I'm looking forward to using it more over the holiday season.

That is one hell of a shallow dof... love it.

Brentwood had some 'Pictorial MIST' so I rushed out this time giving my lovely 'Gift' 1975 Asahi Pentax Spotmatic F an outing, loaded with 02/2005 dated Kodak Tri=X which I tried in the Liquid Promicrol 1+14
I got some rather 'Foggy ' negs with huge GRAIN -- But I c all it 'Artistic' ! ) Next half of the film I will try my Home-Made Microphen formula to see if I get a lower Fog Level.

First roll of Tri-X 400 I've tried. Seems markedly similar to HP5 but with a slightly lower base density, which makes scanning easier. I also tested out my 75mm shift lens for the RZ67. Caused the camera to jam up twice leaving two blank frames so I've dismantled the whole lot and cleaned all of the contacts to be safe and so far it's not done it since.

Finally finished off a roll of Velvia that's been in my Olympus XA4 for over a year! I always forget how lovely the lens on this little camera is - some more shots here. Got this processed by FilmDev for a change - I'm a convert! The films were uploaded so quickly, literally a two-day turnaround, and cheap too. Will be using them again.

Very nice, Charlotte... and I didn't know that Filmdev did E6!

Yes -- I searched Film Dev site and NO MENTION OF E6 slide processing only C41 and B&W -- can you tell us how you got your Velvia done there and the prices ?

Colours look pretty muted for Velvia Charlotte, especially that first one.
Probably closer to reality than the actual slide but, I dunno, have you got them back..:)
