Show us yer film shots then!

You managed to get that exposure spot on! ;)

Only after dragging the exposure up 5 stops in scanning to compensate for your light reading ;) :D

Which you took from my camera, and we hadn't even started drinking yet!

Bad workmen and all that...

I'm not blaming my tools, I'm blaming the tool with the lightmeter

It's amazing how only having 8 shots to a roll of film aids the concentration.

He didn't really have to concentrate to be honest, I was stood next to him when he took that frame and his reading came from my EOS 10. :)

I see what you did there. Not bad for you!

Lovely shallow focus shot. I hadn't heard of the al-1. I looked it up, the focus assist system sounds interesting. Is it good in practice?

The Yashica shots are great, very contrasty did you tweak them or is that SOOTC?

Very much like the Yash shots Andy, very punchy.

It does the job well, although it can be flaky in low contrast or bright light. This one has had around a dozen rolls through it in the last ~30 years so is probably one of the better ones.

They do seem to be rare, this one in particular was a U.S. import.

Got my rolls back from AG today.

Minolta 7000 is caught out by tricky lighting and does under expose a bit.

Looks fine in normal lighting:

Managed to drop on a standard 35-70 mini beercan quite cheaply. Macros is MF so I'm not that great at it...

Tree against the sky was quite under exposed but it wasn't great weather wise.

Considering it's 5 year out of date Jessops 200 it doesn't look that appalling. Grain is larger than I'd want. Much prefer the smoothness of slides. Seem to take less time to scan in too.

A few from Scotland last year on the now sadly defunct Yash Mat. I re-scanned these and did a bit of pp (but not a huge amount) and I'm a lot happier with them now than I was originally.

Taken with Hasselblad EL Portra 160VC and scanned with my V500.

Straight from camera with crop to get the best vista, I think.

Your views would be interesting.

I would call it "Day of the Triffids" :D

There is banding, but it's not uneven development, more than likely due to scanning but it's not a big issue.

For what it's worth I quite like the shot, maybe take a little off the sky to balance it a bit more. Possibly a bump in contrast?

Rob,

Thank you for your comment it is appreciated, it was and always will be the opinion of the shot that was important, but, not with some contributors.

Yes sky could be reduced, bump the contrast no, out of camera.;)

Thank you.

Okay - you've managed to get me to put my mod's hat on far too early in the day...

BRIAN - take down the edited version - Richard doesn't allow edits of his work.

RICHARD - When were you appointed as a Moderator ? - Here's how it goes - you post a picture, and accept feedback, positive or negative, technical or artistic. What you DON'T get to do is say who can and can't contribute to the thread. If you don't like someones input, we have a handy facility for that, it's called the ignore option.

In fairness, yes, Brian's response was a little terse, however, the first thing I thought when I saw the picture was "that looks streaky" - the visible banding has been mentioned by two other regulars in here, so it's not a figment of Brian's imagination.

I don't like having to come in here and throw my weight about, but honestly Richard, you're seriously over-reacting here, and I suggest that you take a self-imposed break from the keyboard and chill out...

EDIT: oops - Yv got there first... complete with thread hoover :)

I see sweep it under the carpet and pretend it did not happen, fair enough for you I guess. YV have you ever as a MOD or member been here before, yet you decide on this carpet sweeping action, congrats.

TBY,
I acquiesce to your better judgement.

:nono: You are aware that questioning moderating decisions is against forum rules aren't you... and FWIW, Yv simply beat me to the hoover - as I'd have done exactly the same. As moderators on this forum, we don't have assigned areas, it just generally works that whoever hangs out in a given area tends to spot things "kicking off" first unless there are a flurry of reports which go into the general staff room, in which case it's whoever picks up the :bat:first...

I'm aware that I haven't posted many pics here for a while, focusing (!) so much on the POTY and 52s. Anyway, so we can get back on general piccy showing track, here are a few from my recent re-exploration of Tri-X on the Pentax MX. I didn't get such sweet results as earlier in the year; maybe it responds a bit better to the more graduated mistiness of January?

1) Leamington park's been doing a bit of pruning (and I also cropped this one):

2) This guy's doing an amazing bas-relief on one recently felled beech:

3) ... and this is a slightly less usual view of Warwick Castle:

4) I also shot my first roll of Portra 160 on the Pentax ME. All pretty undistinguished, but I like these trees round a pond:

5) And this swan turned out better than I expected!

Hope you like them!

Wow.... I really love this Chris.

A perfect reflection and wonderful symmetry. It also confuses the eye in a whimsical fashion so I find myself moving round and round the created oval wondering whats what, and imagining things that arent really there.

Very very clever.

Nice photo's Chris, glad we're back on "showing our film shots" track.

This is the first of two shots from a roll of Velvia 50. This was my first time using it in anger and trying to balance the exposure with filters (lees rock), tough going and I may get a small handheld meter to try and compensate with.

The rest will follow when I have decided which ones I want to enter into the comp.

Super shots Nick, second is proper brilliant.

Three nice shots there although I think the bike rack shot is the strongest. I've become a big fan of Acros 100 and in fact bought a box of 5 rolls a few days ago for the meet in Chester. I'm looking forward to putting them through a couple of cameras and I've been developing them I'm R09 1:50 @ 13.5 minutes with good results and minimal grain. Definitely my new favourite film although I'm waiting for 1 roll of Provia and 1 of Velvia to come back from AG so that may change!

Cheers
Steve

Thanks :).

Yeah, I've only shot a couple rolls of Acros to date, but it seems pretty good so far and it's quite sharp.

At what speed have you been shooting your Acros? I've mostly been metering at box speed, as I'd read the film could be quite finicky, although some of my results suggest there's some latitude for overexposure.
