Show us yer film shots then!

Got my first photos back today (developed and scanned at tescos), taken with my Minolta SRT-101, a Rokkor MC 50mm f1.7 lens and AgfaPhoto Vista 200 from poundland.

All were in a garden on a ridiculously sunny day last week.

Happy enough with them as "lets see if this works", but equally I think the only way is up!

Dan, those are pretty interesting. In the first couple, the joys of thin depth of field, ahem! The dog BTW is lovely. Vista does a pretty good job, doesn't it? Not to mention your Minolta...

Thank you Richard Andy and Ngus. Nice to see another Sinar user Nguss, the first shot is a favourite of mine I was fortunate that while the Lodder family still owned Leonardslee to be given pretty much free access to the garden.

I've actually had a chat with the PR guy at the castle and given him the link to my Flickr account and dropped a few prints off before. I'm not interested in taking things comercailly and a 10x8 is a bit noticable so I usually try and get to know people where I photograph and offer coppies of the scans if they are of use to them.

I took some 10x8's in FP4+ too that I have got round to developing which look ok so have nailed a few to the drum scanner and will try and post a few in a bit.

I guess this is my film photos too, I've been chosen as the 'Newcomer of the Week' of lomography.com and I know many of you guys are against the 'Lomo' ways but to be honest it's actually a really enjoyable place to be and be able to have a careless attitude to photos.

Congrats

I'm one of those who supports Lomography, overpriced but a company that does its utmost to support film photography as a business (and far more so than many mainstream photography companies). Sure, light leaks and plastic lenses are not my thing, but they mean people buy film, which keeps it in production for people like me to also buy.

And I get the occasional interesting shot from my Sprocket Rocket. Most people on F&C aren't usually too negative about it, compared to say APUG...!

Hello Dan nice shots and how much do Tesco charge for dev and scan (no photos) and what is the turn around time?

I'm not sure if I've posted this before but it's for Asha:-

A French farmer in northern France with a sense of humour:-

 LOL...thank you for that Brian.

A lot of the french have an obscure sense of humour when it comes to the jerries....usually in a humourous way which is good imo considering the horrors of any war.

Occasionally i wear cargo style bottoms with boots which along with having blue eyes gets some of the older generation taking a long hard look at me especially in the isolated mountain villages:D

Hello Dan nice shots and how much do Tesco charge for dev and scan (no photos) and what is the turn around time?

They charged £1.95 for dev and scan and scan onto CD with no photos printed, you get a contact sheet as well. Took them in Friday late afternoon, ready for pickup on Tuesday at mid-day. Not sure if it would have been a little quicker if there wasn't a weekend.

Wow that's a bargain

Tesco in my neck of the woods add 99p for the CD. You definitely had a result, especially if the negs are clean..

wow...I had a look at the larger sizes on flickr...incredible.

Not sure how many people use 10X8 these days but huge kudos to those who do... I'm still struggling to get a 1/2 decent 5x4

Eric - that's a brilliant photograph.

Very good quality shots RJ...it looks like if you want 6X6 then the Bronica is a good choice.

Some what belatedly.

I prefer the look of Velvia 100 to 50 to me it's more accurate in its colour reprensentation although I suspect many would disagree also the finer grain and extra stop are not to be sniffed at as I mostly shoot garden type landscapes and have a reflection fetish motion blur cann be an issue and once or twice a year I foolishly attempt a 1:1 shot on 10x8 this is just not funny with 50's reciprocity characteristics.

I found Tim Parkins film comparrision an interesting read I guess I'll try Porta some when but I kind of expect to be disapionted.

Lots more great shots from you Osh

Thank you for your coments on my photos Chris and Trevor the colour in your test shots from your Ensign looks nice and natural.

I like fred2511's Delta 100 portrait shots.

While I like Woodsy's 5x4's I'm not entirely convinced I like Portas pallette.

The recent shots scanned on a Dainippon Screen DT1045AI at about 1600dpi 8000 would be silly and 3200 means stiching and ending up with a 9Gb PSB ...

Thanks I may well try Velvia 100 - could be especially useful for handheld shots. You have some wonderful pictures there - the first one in particular is stunning!

Yep, like it. Love the trip, cracking little camera.

Oh Trev, they look good. Can't wait to get mine back, ran a roll of Velvia 100 through it yesterday and I'm going to stick a roll of Ektar today while the suns out.
These look pin sharp mate, lovely.

They look really good. The detail is fantastic especially when viewed at Large 2048.

Please stop posting shots, or else I'll want one as well! :):)

I think I did relatively well with a Oly Mju1, almost cried. Miles is fantastic.

Decent results, especially considering they were all shot at f/3.5 1/15s (most probably). Might try and shoot some fast B&W film in my mju sometime and see how they turn out...

I love the colour palette on these, the last especially; it looks almost 3D on my screen.

Many thanks! I've been doing a bit of reading recently so that I could get better results from my scanner, especially with regard to colour, and I think it's starting to pay off.
