Show us yer film shots then, shall we discuss it!!

I'm not sure, they seem to be doing an awful lot of waffling! ;)

Great:thinking: Trying to get the waffling away from the photo thread, lets hope it works long term.

right, so what are we saying then ??

Lets use this thread to discuss what we are saying and when we've discussed what we are saying we can sanction the creation of a new show us yer film shots thread, without 2 pages of waffel at the beginning and with the new "what we are saying" regs attached to it......:rules:

Are we saying the show us your film shots thread is for film shots and comments about posted film shots only, be they critique, informational, observational or whatever.
Do we need to define what its not for, I mean, to say ID-11 would give less grain than Rodinal, though not specific could be totally relevant to a posted shot, whereas 6 posts about my Koi carp and how to get rid of blanket weed could relate to a shot I posted of my pond but ain't exactly what we want to see in this thread ??

Is that what we are saying or have I read it wrong ??

I wanna write the regs.......with sub sections, appendices and sub clauses in italics

I'm in the love the show us your film shots for the variety and comments that do come up, I can't be fagged with going through tons and tons of sub menus this forum is confusing enough as it is!

I saw a lovely image (in the digikal section somewhere I think) the other day which I really wanted to show to my wife. I can't for the life of me find it again!

If anyone finds a thread about the best pictures you've ever taken with a picture of an autumn leaf on some grass let me know where it is please X

I agree with Jox and pepper. I for one really love the comments on that picture forum. It helps me to see a huge variety of stuff....

I will say this about that thread and this in general. I post in two film forums. One here on TP and a Pentax Forum. What both of these have in common is this.

The contributors are very respectful.
They have an obvious different type of love for photography.
Rare to see an adhomien attack.
Less attention is paid to gear and more to the finished product.
People are plain nicer.
People that shoot film just seem like nicer people. I am sure many will disagree with me, but this is what I have seen. Sure there are exceptions, but even in those exceptions where people strictly use digital, the nice folks for the most part came from a film back ground...For many that came in purely later in life with a digital camera, most are angry it seems....Anyway, these are just my opinions and nothing more.

So this is a meta-thread, for discussing discussions on the actual 'show us your film shots' thread?

Or a steering committee, as it were?

well, it was a new thread but its got rail roaded because it had no direction or.......Regulations !!

I dunno, I just can't figure out what the upshot of these 2 waffle pages are, whether there is a clear defined shift towards one particular ideal or not, so I'm just resetting it.
Maybe it needs a poll..

So the question is -

"Are we saying the show us your film shots thread is for film shots and comments about posted film shots only, be they critique, informational, observational or whatever.
Do we need to define what its not for, I mean, to say ID-11 would give less grain than Rodinal, though not specific could be totally relevant to a posted shot, whereas 6 posts about my Koi carp and how to get rid of blanket weed could relate to a shot I posted of my pond but ain't exactly what we want to see in this thread ??"

sorry - I lost the will to live round about #33.

Where's that un-subscribe button. :(

The answer, John, as usual, is : 42 :D

..or there was a tube strike Monday.

I thought you guys would know from observation over time that the "show us your film shots" thread wobbles back and forward but it always carry on with film shots...erm maybe that's because of the thread title steering it.

my observation, would be ... most people like the thread as it is ?

almost like a film shots 'pub' if you like

This was my first post and is really the essence of what the thread is about.

Now first of all this is not a rant or anything like that, can we please use this thread to do what it say,s.

It is very frustrating to read and look at the thread and find post after post about, developing and bloody Tesco's.

I would humbling request that if something starts to go off topic that a poster remembers to start a new topic and discuss the benefits of Tesco or alike somewhere else.

A big thank to all my F&C friends,

Over and out.

Richard.

All I was trying to say was let us keep "show us yer film shots then" more to the topic, I have always liked to read the supporting posts about the shots and any technical information, but what happens a lot is the posts start to diversify into area,s that do not have any relevance to the topic, IE Tesco's policy on developing, Bicycles, and whatever else.

So to be precise photo,s yes any comments about the photo,s yes. What we had for dinner NO.:)

Sorry if I have created a problem that was not my objective.

Richard.

That's the way I read it Richard - and why I agreed at the outset. However, it's gonna be a b****r to keep everyone in line! The film thread is the one thing we *all* have in common on this forum, we *all* go look and pretty much we *all* feel happy posting in it - that I think is why it gets such a wide range of discussions going ... the more I think about it though the more I think it should actually stay that way!

I think that I am in agreement, as you say it is one of the best threads on the whole(TP) site( IMHO) and I do not wish to change that.
Idea:geek: if more people posted photo,s then the ratio to diatribe would reduce, great:rules: coming here one irrelevant post equals two pictures, brilliant:D

For the record, I'm with you Richard, nobody needs to know about my ongoing blanket weed battle and I'm not bothered about reading off topic either.
But...without a little personal stuff it seems less friendly, so I think a complete clotch of anything other than directly related critique might turn it a bit sterile.
So, if it starts getting a bit OT, I'm just gonna post a load of photo's over it all..

Anyway, quite apart from that, Admin will be hoping that that gazillion post clagknot thread will be removed from the things to do list, so if we're gonna have a new one, do it before they do it and cos the other broke the toilet seat and needs a crane to get in the bath.

erm what's all that in proper English

Which bit do you not understand Brian South Bucks, or does non of it make any sense ?

This paragraph got me confused, but hey I'm a different generation to most of you guys, so it could be me:-

A test film trying out a few new toys, the F90x and the F2.8 35-70.

The film was a Poundland Kodak UltraMax 400 - the actual film reads Kodak GC 400.

Bloody hell! I'm missing time!

I've been abducted by aliens!

It's either that, or I left a tab open and forgot to refresh it....

But the abducted by aliens theory sounds much more plausible :naughty:

Ahem!

Moving on.....
