... gardens :D

Own up, who thought it would be rude?

Well summer is fast approaching, and our garden is still a blank canvas, I really need some inspiration, so figured asking to see pics of other peoples gardens is the way forwards, rather than wandering the streets looking at other peoples, Ill get arrested :D

Heres ours at the moment...

Its a new build house, so as an extra, we got it turfed, but now we want to dig half of it up to make room for a patio! Thats about all we've managed to decide!!!! :bang:

Lets see them then! Feel free to name flowers as well :)

Did you need to jump mega high to get them shoots?

I'll post mine up tomorrow when i get out there, (quickly goes and tidies up)

nutter :p

Would post a photo of mine, but it is dark now :( as I am still stuck with parents it is all thier doing really. I just have a random pot of strawberrys that never seem to produce any fruit!

Tom, how about we both take a photo of our gardens tomorrow and do funny edits with them? like add things

Tony

Not sure mine is big enough tbh Tony :p tis sort of full of plants and stuff now, will give it a go though :p - anywho....back to Miss Betty's topic.

Now where have i seen that photo before?

Can tell he is a boss can't you? :D

That was last week. We're having the grassy area near the house 3/4 flagged to match the rest, and whats left near the fence will be my little herb garden / wifes 'rockery'.

Marcel is Spider man by day, just look how he high up he is holding on to that wall

Thanks so far guys, I am still stuck for ideas! I really need to get going, we've got guests next week and we are purchasing our first patio set later :D

Picture Bill Oldie's wildest ever nature reserve and you are somewhere close to my garden. The 10ft trampoline has been 'reclaimed' by nature and the rabbits are lost in there enclosure because the grass is sooo high.

Betty,

First off, are the builders still around at all? If so It might be worth having a word with some of the lads on site as they'll usually lay a patio for you MUCH cheaper (and in our experience much better) than most of the companies doing the same.

Our garden was pretty much the same last year (another new build green square) but I completely re-landscaped it as a birthday present for my wife. I'll grab some before and after pictures off of my other laptop and post them shortly. The best thing to do is to get on top of the grass now (fnar fnar) as builders tend to put down the crappiest medow grass they can get away with. Leave it for too long and it'll be nigh on impossible to get back to any reasonable state.

Did all this as a surpirse for my wife. Sent her away to Anglesy with the kids for a week, took a week of work without her knowing and blitz'd the garden with the help of my brother (seen hard at work in one of the pics)

Chillimonster,

Nice work! I can understand the hassle you had with that split level as our was pretty much the same (and sloping in two directions):

I can only find an after shot at the moment but ours was basically grass, and nothing more. I stripped everything back, removing all the turf and the top few inches of soil (if you can call it that). Added 2 tonnes of new topsoil to level out all the hills and hollows etc and returfed it with Rowlawn. Here's the finished result, 6 weeks later:

Needless to say, she loves it :D

Chilli, I'm sure I've replied to those photos elsewhere, to a different name (might have been flickr).
Damn nice work

Marcel/Chillimonster,

Are those plastic/metal pre-formed sheds any good? Secure?

I'm thinking I might get one to store the BBQ, mower etc but don't want to have the local toerags knicking stuff.

No problems with the one i have, very sturdy, and i've bolted it to the floor for good measure. Took around 1 hour to build, never needs painting (just a quick jet-wash).

At the end of the day, if the local scum-bags want to get in the shed, they will, be it wood, metal, brick etc.

^^^ What he said.

Mine's really sturdy too. Because of a lack of some of the fittings, the structure is actually wooden in mine (Well, the top and bottom of all four sides.....wooden beams. Again, it's been bolted to the concrete floor.

The only thing I can say watch out for, is if you're laying the base yourself, fit a waterproof membrane under the concrete. Mine is a b****r in summer for condensation.

that was first thing when sun is at the front, it is full sun in the back from mid-day onwards! Nothing over the back fence either so get the sun into the evening, the bunnies love it!

PS, count yourself fortunate to have started with a blank canvas, clearing a jungle is back-breaking! ask Joe!

I hurt my back when I moved, so a lot of the work has been done by Joe and my parents, I'm very grateful too! :) I'm improving all the time and can do a lot myself now, I love it! They are all very pleased!!!!! :D

The grass is growing in thick and strong...... now i've another job to do each week! :bonk:

Our back garden

2 pics stiched together. No there isn't a dip in the middle. :) We keep Guinea Pigs, thats what all the cages are around the side. They reduce the time needed to mow the grass. A bonus for which we are very gratefull.
