Show me your posh watches

LOL, Springdrive.......really

i was at the sale of the very first one it sold for 17K euros I think and was inline to be 1 of 7 stockists on the UK, thank god I saw the light and bailed out. Its a lemon of a watch, although liked by the watch geeks over at TZ or Breitlingsource

It depends what you want from a watch. I have a Seiko Chrono I bought new over 18 years ago - never been serviced and gains less than 30 seconds in a year .

None of the posh watches will come near that performance and will need expensive servicing periodically. At over £3K new I doubt the spring drive chrono is a lemon unless you're looking at it in terms of investment which the OP isn't.

I was a Stockist :bang:

they are distributed in teh Uk by the company that distributes Raymond Weil, TW is actually a decent seller in some place (just not our shop lol). They are a cheaper copy of U Boat watches really

Raymond Weil - another great way to throw money away needlessly

Ahhh, yes I agree completely, If you want a watch to tell the time then buy a Seiko or Citizen, however the OP wants to spend £3300 so this opens up a whole new set of criteria of which time keeping is only a very small bit

Lets relate this to cars, would you spend £40k on the top of the range Citreon C6 or Vauxhal Vectra (or what ever the new model is) with every single option including funky paint, TV, Sat nav, Bose etc or would you buy a BMW, Merc or Porsche with less options

LOL Unfair question - my approach to cars is somewhat different to my approach to watches :D - but yep- I see what you're saying.

LOL I also have a G-Shock which I think I paid about 80 quid for a few years ago - it's radio linked to the atomic clock thingy, so accurate to within a second a day-I set it up when I bought it and haven't touched it since! Date changes, daylight saving etc is all done automatically, and it's solar powered. I dunno why I even bother looking at anything else.

Funny things watches - a bit like cameras -they can definitely part you from large bundles of your hard earned wonga! :D

obviously Stephen knows his stuff..........

Personally have always loved Tag's and bought one 2 yrs ago when made redundant....... compared to your £3300 budget i paid peanuts, <£500 and it was from a retail outlet centre which was showing last years stock.... but genuine and Tag, and I liked it. I will confess to deliberating for an hour or so befor ebuying it, as well, hell, my phone tells me the time.....

Wear it as the day to day watch......... which is mad because the watch my wife bought me as an engagement pressie was approx 1/2 the price and a rotary limited edition.

I believe they are called skeleton's as completely see through , all the movements etc etc, and can see my arm through it when I wear it for special occasions.

It;s all down to personal taste and personal budgets. For example there is a gorgeous Rolex on sale in Windsor Bishop in Norwich for £20,750....... been there a while for some reason...:cuckoo:

I am guessing you could pay a lot more.........

This is very true, i have finally got over my obsession with having to have the best/most expensive watch as its just part of my job, the only problem is Cameras have taken over :bang:

In the £500-£1500 bracket Tag Heuer are virtually untouchable IMO, they pretty much have that segment sown up

Well that was my market point......... cheapskate!

Just a mad day... i feel like blowing some cash......... on our way up to a holiday.... and to be fair to the watch, it hasn't let me down in the slightest......

ask me the model or anything though and I don't have a clue.........

I'll take a piccy of it tomorrow and maybe you can enlighten me (i need to do it anyway for purposes of insurance!)

If you've got £3300 and it has to be from EJ buy an Omega, spending that sort of money on a Tag is madness.

Not sure about that - quite fancy the Monaco. Though i'd prefer a vintage Heuer over a modern Tag personally.

At that budget and that retailer (unless they stock IWC), I would go with an Omega though the ones I like don't come with display casebacks (so you can't see the movement working away).

No discount on Panari and im in the trade, also there would be no discount with an insurance voucher as any discount goes to the insurance Company

But that is a seriously nice watch, without looking it up i recon its a 44 or 46mm case so size may be an issue.

When i replace my watch Panari would be top of my list

That is a thing of beauty!! I've whiled away many an hour on the Panerai website, only need to be able to afford one but the PAM00177 is always on my imaginary xmas list!!

Yeah I suppose I'm a regular visitor but not a prolific poster on tz. I also have a JLC Master Compressor Diving Chrono but haven't been wearing it since the Deepsea arrived. So I'm thinking about moving it on for something a bit different - something more dressy rather than a divers watch. Like I said a Heuer Monaco or a good condition vintage Autavia would be of interest. Did once consider an AP Royal Oak but the servicing cost put me right off!

Also quite like the Nomos range but they're a little too dressy for me. I'm in Hamburg right now and surrounded by some nice watch shops I cant stop myself from staring through the shop windows at the moment!

now got a new issue! ill have to order what i want online as there shop in belfast doesn't stock any of the premium watches!!!! ill have to look in other jewellers and then order online which isn't really what i wanted to do but aw well :(

Yeah, I just looked its a pretty poor poor show from EJ

Try and get the vouchers exchanged for LMG ones, then you can spend them in independent jewellers (including me :), although I only have secondhand ones)

This is my "poshest" watch, an Oris TT1

Oh dear - Another thread I should stay out of.

My money goes on cars, watches and now camera equipment.

The saddest thing is that I have a drawer full of watches and most days do not wear one - I have some issues! :) Added to that the fact that my cameras do the same these days.
