Hi all,

looking for a shoulder bag big enough to fit a 5d mkii with a 70-200 2.8 IS attached as well as a couple of other lenses/bits and bobs. I currently use a Lowepro Vertex 200AW (left in a safe place and returned to to swap lenses etc..) but want something I can get easy access to and will be small enough to carry round with me.

Any ideas?

Iain

Just one.... ThinkTank Retrospective 20

I use a Lowepro Classified 200AW and I can carry

1D IV with 70-200 f2.8 IS
24-70 f2.8
1.4 Extender
2 x 580 Speed-lights
Sekonic Light meter

All in the main compartment, with plenty of room in the front pockets for bits and bobs, I was very lucky as a local camera shop were selling them for £50 a few months back :)

Crumpler new delhi 510 will hold that combo with room for another large lens I tried the 510 before buying the 620 and it held my kit but there was no room for expansion really but the 610 is significantly bigger and not really great to carry around all day when its full due to the amount it will hold its heavy.

Have a look at the Billingham (English) or Domke (American) bags Iain.
Neither are cheap or even fashionable I suppose, but either will last you a lifetime.

I've had both, and both were superb. If I was pushed I'd pick the Billingham as being the best. But then again I am English too :)

cheers

Might be worth having a look at the Tamrac pro series. I've got the pro 13 for 2 bodies, 6 lenses and a couple of flashes plus all the other stuff. Obviously overkill with the 13 but they do have a good range.

+ 1 on Crumpler

I use a Crumpler Cupcake 5500 holds a D700 with general lens 28-200, 14 Wide, 135 & a 50 plus spare battery and a couple of CF cards nice and small. enough room. Can always swop a lens for a Flash and mix and match with other lenses. Bag is good construction and shoulder strap is very comfortable. If you have big hands then go to the Delhi as it gives a little more access room.

Like retrospective and National Geographic as well but my 5500 only cost me 40 odd quid new.

I ve got it and it's amazing. Doesn't shout out expensive lens/ camera in my bag, excellent build quality, lots of pockets and can fit camera + grip with 70-200 lens with hood on ready to shoot. I m not sure if they sell them in th UK as I ve got mine from the states.

Several companies do them over here, got mine from Speed Graphics at Focus because I wanted to see if before buying and no local dealers had it.

Agree with all other comments, really good size as it is the taller model, and can fit in loads of stuff.

I had a retro 20 for a short time, tried carrying it round with 70-200 on one body and wide zoom on the other - too heavy loaded like that. A killer on the back and neck. The bag itself is fairly heavy with nothing in it, loaded it is one hefty weight to have pulling across your body.

Yep thats the problem I found, very heavy when packed full,at the moment trying to 2 bag way,on a big day out,Kata as backpack, for spares, and the 20 for working out of :)
