Thats just about the best step you could make :D

Budget well I dont want to spend alot but if need to I would. As rather get the right thing. But is it best staying with the 400d or is it worth having a nikon someone told me the new nikon d60 is better but I cant see that

its only as good as you are...

so you've got a good lens (17-40L) and a pair of crummy ones (comparatively). Get a good zoom and that will be sorted. 50mm f1.8 better than nothing, or there is the 50mm f1.4 if you're a bit more flush. If your rich, there is the f1.2L

Well I am loving the camera but i am always up for changes and challenge

I do Landscape Photo's and have just started doing Portraits.

But what i like to know what difference would i see in a better camera apart from Full Frames I aint going down that route too expensive for what i do.

But love to have a lens with IS facility I think as sometime i want to have a walk without my tripod which is a manfrotto pro190

yes i did, couldnt resist trying to help a canon user cross over.

The D60 is a cracking camera, i dont like it, but thats because i feel its too small, but its about the same size as your 400D, so not such a big issue.

Personally i would suggest the D80, or D200 depending on funds, as there are lens limitations on the D60.

But the price over 1K for that is it i dont think i fancy paying that much

There is no need whatsoever for you to swop unless you would actually see benefits from doing so - as it looks now, I don't believe you will get any more from Nikon than you are getting from Canon.

If you hated your 400D & loved the handling/ergonomics/bells & whistles of Nikon then fair enough but brand swopping won't make you take better photos, only practice (& feedback from here :p) can do that.

Good luck whatever you choose to do

Edit: You can pick up an 85mm 1.8 for around £170

70-200 l f4 would give you the next progresion and its a great lens , can be had from Ian Kerso for £350
yours gwh

What exactly are you trying to achieve with an upgrade/change ?

How is your current setup limiting your photography?
If you know that, it can help you decide what you need :D
Good advice here. Spending money won't make your photos any better, unless you've worked out what it is that's currently holding you back.

Thanks guys for your help I have decided to stick to the 400d and get a couple of lens for it. What i dont know yet prob a 50mm prime and a 100 - 400 L Lens maybe.
