Morning all as title really just wondering if the upgrades really worth it!

I've had a read on line and kinda think it's a waste but I've got a D3200 with 18-55 and 55-200 (not used) so was thinking if I sell the twin lens kit I wouldn't cost me a lot to upgrade to the 5200 with just 18-55 as I already had a 55-300 I would always choose over the 55-200

At most I think it would cost me £100 to upgrade

Any input welcome

Not sure there is much difference between the d3200 and the d5200. I would suggest the d7000 would be a better upgrade as it has the dual control wheels, more buttons for functions and a built in focus motor. It's about £100 more than a d5200.

I don't think the focus motor would be an issue for me! The D7000 is just out of my price range at the minuet!!

I'm just thinking the extra £100 wouldn't be a waste as I'm getting rid of a lens I would never use and it's got HDR/ bracketing, less noise at high ISO, more focus points, flip out screen, bigger sensor, and shoots faster!

Hmmmm decisions!!!

why not sell the lens you don't use & get another lens..
Its a bit like changing your car to the same model cos you don't like the colour.

Well I would but I a bit of a fanny! The kit I've got was the d3200 18-55 55-200 all in one box and that's how ill sell it as a kit so was just thinking if I do that it wouldn't cost me much more to get the d5200 with the lens I use and it would be brand new with 2 year warrenty

i agree that isnt much of an upgrade, i would save up a little moree and go for a D7000, much more advanced & feature rich model

The sensor is the same size, both are 24meg. In terms of less noise at higher iso, it really is only a tiny amount better. If the other points you mention are important to you then maybe it is worth the upgrade. It wouldn't be for me, but we are all different.

No there not that important to me really just the HDR bracketing would be good as I've seen a friend use bracketing and the outcome is quite amazing! I know it can to done post processing it's just handy to have built in!

Thanks for the input I think I'm just going to stick with what I've got and sell the 55-200 lens separately it's pointless having it lieing round the house

D5100 has HDR and bracketing and with the D5200 and D5300 out anytime they are a good price now.

I went from a D3000 to a D5100 because that was the limit of my budget at the time. Only a year later I sold everything I could to upgrade again to a D7100. Shortest time I've ever owned a camera. If you're looking to take a leap & really start pushing your gear, going from the D3xxx range to the D5xxx range is too limiting a jump - in my opinion. And as it was HDR and the bracketing options that forced my mind upwards, I thought that might be relevant to you.

Thank you looks like we were in pretty much the same boat so I think ill hold tight as the d3200 is still more than I need other than the bracketing and HDR but that's not the end of the world

In camera hdr is awful especially on nikon bodies and also why cant you bracket? Up the ev by a stop :s its not difficult lol. I ofgen choose to do that than let the camera do it.
