I currently use exclusively open source software for PP, specifically Darktable and Gimp.

I’m fairly happy with Darktable but I find Gimp a little limiting, probably due to my limitations rather than Gimp’s. I like the look of Affinity because it looks pretty powerful and usable and it’s reasonably priced at £50. I won’t use PS/LR due to subscription.

Cheers,
Tom

I'm sure they have a free download you could use for a month of evaluation. I'd also try Luminar and On1 Photoraw.

Its much slower at importing but apartfrom that I love it.I have LR6 but dont use it anymore

I have just installed Dark table for Lubuntu/Ubuntu Tom after reading your original post. I've just brought my first reasonable quality Digital camera after using film for a while and like you use exclusively open source software so didn't know what was available and what was any good.I'll keep my eyes peeled on this thread as to what else is available , Is it Linux you are using as an operating system ?

I think Darktable is great - there’s a bit of a learning curve but there are lots of YouTube tutorials out there. The number of functions can be overwhelming to start but once you know which ones you’re likely to use you can hide the rest. I use it on Windows.

Hi, I just uninstalled On1 2019 and now sticking with Skylum Luminar. For quick edits I found Luminar to be very good and version 4 is out soon, have a look on YT. Russ.
