Yes
Just looked in local cancer charity shop and found an old Olympus 55mm F1.2 in excellent condition for £20, thought about it but left it, now I am thinking should I have?

Should have given them £25 for it and got yourself a bargain!

…maybe someone else could use the lens
but they could certainly use the 20 bucks!

You should have.

Yes - too good to pass up. But then I have an OM system and can actually make use of it.

As long as it was a 55mm f1.2 a quick look on ebay will tell you to high tail it back to that shop ASAP

Well I am tracking a very good condition Pentax M 50mm f/1.2 to add to my M collection of lenses... currently on EBay at €490 there was one at £279 recently. The Olympus is about the same vintage I think.

I would have bought the Olympus at the price you have seen it, if only to trade it to put towards the Pentax lens.

I would have made an extra donation if the charity is a good local one.

I am guessing they don't know what they have.

This one is listed at over $400

I think I paid about £300 for mine a year or so ago. There are different variants (as there seems to be for all OM lenses, depending on when they were made) and mine does suffer from flare if the sun is able to shine on the lens. My Canon FD 55mm f/1.2 SSC ASPH doesn't have the same problem, but is bigger and heavier.

Always the problem

I went for the M seroes cameras and lrnses in the early 80s They had many regional variations on zoom lengts and apertures. (the m 28mm f/3.5 os a better lend than thr m 28mm f/2.8)

MX and ME Super bodies with the LX in 86 . (I stkll have and use them).

The A Series were plastic and nasty.

Most M lenses are still reasonable but some (like tbe 50mm f/1.2, 35mm f/2 and the 85mm f/2) are gems.

All my collection are still used wh I shoot film and regularly are mounted on my canon EOS 70D.

I went back this morning to have another look. My thoughts being to get a converter to enable using manually with my Nikon D90 and extension tubes. While examining the lens the assistant said you can have it for £15 its been there for two weeks. After being satisfied the condition warranted purchase I bought it at the original price. So now looking for converter.
