Yes
last weekend I had a play with a 1D mk3 and now I want one even quicker.
so it has got me thinking do I need 2 bodys?, or do I sell or better still do a straight swop of my 1d mk2 and 50d for a mk3.
or should I just be happy with what I have after all I can only use one at a time. :help:

I guess the question is.. do you use two bodys? If you do, then yes you need two, if you don't then no you dont. Simple as that really.

^^This.
It's only worth having 2 if you absolutely need them. If the quality of a single mk3 outweighs the convenience of the 2 then I would say do the swap.

It's times like this when only you can decide :)

I have only ever used 2 together when I went to newent Bird of prey, found it was good to have the 70-200 on the 50d for the bids on the perch's and the 1d with a 300 for flying displays.

If you're using them professionally then it's vital to have backup, no question about it.
But if not then the worst that can happen is that it's a bit inconvenient if the camera fails. That's annoying of course but no big deal.

I'd say go for the mk III they're superb. The controls are a lot more intuitive than the mark II, it's noticeably lighter and you just won't believe the battery life. I was tempted to buy a spare battery when I changed from a IIN bit I genuinely haven't needed a spare at all. And all this hoo hah about the focus problems are well sorted now.

cheers
