Should I Edit Gymnastic Images Before Making Them Available?

Edit My Images
Yes
Took some pics down the local gym club today & will be supplying some images
on disc for web use & hopefully sell a few to parents.

However, on looking at some of the pics, the leotards in the groin area show
some wrinkles & look like 'camel toes'. Should I 'tidy them up or am I worrying
about nothing?

Thanks in advance.

 Bloody idiots

C'mon guys, im being serious :p

I reckon if you do edit them and its noticable I.E a bit dodgy round the groin area ! it'll look even worse

sorry but i'm sat here with a large JD and coke in my hand contemplating going to work tomorrow after a week in France and this has made me laugh out loud

:lol::lol::lol:

this has made me laugh out loud

:lol::lol::lol:

Making me laugh now

Think I will leave them & if anyone complains, i'll tell them to buy stuff that
fit properly

How about editing one of them and see how it looks? I wouldn't usually say to edit them, but if you're hoping to make print sales off the images and they aren't 100% it might be better with a slight edit.

If you can do it in a subtle way, then sure. But if it's at all obvious then avoid it, or else you'll just look like a bit of a perv.

I honestly didn't think I'd ever answer a question like this....!

This thread is useless without samples! :D :bonk: :coat:

I wouldn't edit them as far as cloning, how about just dodge/burn to remove shadows from wrinkles..

As above really, if you're going to do it, make sure it isn't obvious, or you're going to get a baaaaaaaaad reputation around the club

I may give that ago, but im guessing from the responses that im worrying
over nothing ;)

My daughter used to do gymnastics and I'd say unless the picture looks totally silly I'd leave them as is.

It'll be parents/grandparents that are buying the prints and they won't think twice about any 'wrinkles' in that area.

Thanks Lee, perhaps if I hadnt taken the pics, I wouldnt be worrying ;)

Paul, if these shots are to be displayed with your name, surely the answer is yes, you want the best possible images to be seen because that will be their impression of your skill/ability/professionalism

Your work is your signature :)

Edit didnt see the bit about Camel Toes :suspect:

I think the bit that's been missed here is selling to parents, so these are shots of children?

That's a possibly minefield area. If you can do it unnoticeable I'd edit that area just to avoid any possibly chance of someone saying you were taking pervy photo's.

Have you someone you can show the problem to and discuss? I'm thinking partner or someone at the club?

personally , wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. i can just see it opening up a whole can of worms

......you'll just look like a bit of a perv.

I think I'd use "the camera never lies" approach in lieu of being caught looking at 200% crops of little girls' nether regions on my monitor whilst attempting to clone out the wrinkles.

If you were to clone out "lumps" in the boy's costumes, the parents would be horrified..."it makes him look like a girl"

I say leave well alone....just avoid selling any shots to camels with a foot fetish.

Bob

You could always copy and paste an actual camel toe over the groin area so that the parents get the message. :D

So many ways for this to go wrong.. I'd leave it and just not put up any shots that look in any way dodgy if possible.

Funny thread though :)

:nono: I'm a total newbie to the forum but having just been reading articles on the law in relation to photography and a section on child photograpy, the first thing i'd be considering is whether I could get used to prison food or not !

Thanks for the advice guys.

Im going to see the manager of the gym & show her the images.

I wont mention the 'toes' & if she says nothing
then I will leave them alone :)

Best approach IMO. Wouldn't edit them at all in that way

post some of the "worst" examples of those over the age of 18 for us to tell you :naughty:

LOL .Best thread for ages!

I'd supply them 'as is' and offer to edit them if anyone comments?

This thread/question has had me laughing since I first saw it.........brilliant..........

This cracked me up! leave them as they are and just offer a cropped and uncropped version. Its up to the parents to decide and its only going to be the family who see them. It also wont look suspicious just selling a cropped version! When we have done gymnastics photos we sell onsite and have never had any mention of "cameltoe" issues!

Glad your all amused gang

Good news though, the gym master is happy with my efforts & has asked me to
cover the next event so alls good :)

I'm pleased for you ................

but ................ we still need photographic evidence

PMSL....

Best thread for years...

I'd only edit if you can see a moustache

I did a gymnastics shoot last weekend. All the photos are available for the clubs, children and parents involved. They are all password protected. Only editing I've done is for light consistency in the gym hall (horrible dark yellow sodium lights) and nothing else.
During the competition last weekend the gymnasts and parents involved were all made aware that I was photographing the competition.

:lol::lol::lol:

Id love to but given the topic of conversation & the ages of the gymnasts I
feel id best not
