Today I came across a used Canon 24-70 in a local shop. I have started looking at the lens to replace my 17-40 on the 5D MkII again with all the hype starting for the new MkII. However the MkII is way too expensive for me.
The used one would be EUR 800 (new it would be EUR 1100) - so I think it is a good deal. The lens is basically spotless - no scratches or anything. The dealer couldn't/wouldn't tell me how old it is.
Unfortunately I can't test it on my own camera. The dealer has put it aside until tomorrow so I can sleep over it.
So should I go for it? Or will the price for the MkI drop considerably with the new one out? And is it really worth replacing the 17-40 (which I mostly use from 20mm up because the edges are really soft/squishy
)?
Your advice is needed badly here...
