Hi All,

I've got £100 Nikon cashback to spend and I'm toying with the idea of getting the older Sigma 18-50mm f2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM as it's a good price for a 2.8 lens...

the question is should I go for it???

Cheers

I've got the one without hsm or os, I use it on my d7000 without an issue. If you can get it for a decent price I wouldn't hesitate.

Sorry, by older i meant it's the 2009 18-50 with OS and HSM (hsm wouldn't be a problem anyway).
It's the same as the one linked by skimwords on my original post

Personally I would prefer a constant F2.8 lens such as the Tamron 17-50mm.

+1 for the Tam 17-50. Def worth the extra money. Had the Sig 18-50, doesnt compare to the Tam I'm afraid.

Or equally the Sigma 17-50 f2.8 constant aperture. Splendid lens IMO :)

+1 an f2.8 lens is well worth the extra. I'm glad I upgraded from a variable one. If you can squeeze a bit more cash out then maybe you could go for a used tamron or sigma, you might not get os for that budget but its on essential on that focal length.

Cheers guys, really helpful stuff... just to find one now for the right ££

Yup. Get the constant 2.8.

You will be glad that you did.
