should I buy this??

Anyone but Jessies, shop around for a better deal - or consider a better make like Canon. ;)

hahaha

im sure you can find a better price for that setup, but its not bad from jessops.

Jessops do have good deals from time to time. The D80 has recently been replaced by the D90 so bargains will be out there to be had.

Personally I would also try the second hand market.

Jessops are quite often the cheapest for Cameras and kits and even once in a blue moon, lenses

The lens isn't anything special, but then they're only charging £50 for it, so it looks like a pretty decent deal

Hmm, this isn't the ''normal'' D80 kit lens, is it? That would be the same I got on the D50. I think that's the catch. The standard lens on this one would be the Nikkor 18-135mm VR!

Do it!
i got the D60 (as i couldnt afford the extra hundred) i love my camera but i would ideally get the D80 due to built in AF motor in the body.

£450 isn't bad at all, but on the second hand market you could pick up a decent body and one (or even two) very good quality lenses. The 18-55 vr that your deal here comes with is far from poor, but it's easily bettered in optical and handling terms.

Cheers,
James

Ummm.....it is the 18-55 VR that is with the kit the link goes to....

It's a good price and the D80 is a great camera and I really love mine. I only have the Nikon 18-55 (none VR) which came with my D40X and I am pleased with that, so the VR version should be even better in terms of image stabilisation. Canon users are always complaining that their kit lens is poor but I believe the Nikon one to be far superior.

i was thinking about buying a secound hand D80 and lens but every advert Ive seen wants approx 300 - 350 for just the camera body with approx 10 to 15 thousand actuations!! That means I would then have to buy a lens.

so for the extra 150 ill be spending by getting it brand new, the camera will come with 2 years warrantee, no actuations and will be mint condition

not quite sure what the bump was for as you've had several good answers.

Personally I'd sell the 18-55 VR and replace it with a used Nikkor 18-70 DX instead.

Certainly on the D60, the 18-70 DX is much sharper than the 18-55 VR on the long end.

i would look around and get something second hand personally with warranty (some places offer 30 days, 3 months) and save alittle cash

beesley if you buy the d80 from jessops online and put in the code xmas20 at checkout you will get £20 off.

why do you say that mate?

its brand new nearly and has a better lens. the jessops kit is 449.00!!

what do you think is more realistic to pay
