I use an iphone and been very happy with iOS so far. Must say i had high expectations from iphone 5. Was disappointed so dint go for it. I love apple products (also use ipad) but never really fell in love with itunes. Considered S3, but i get the feeling that its too big.

However, i really liked lumia 920. I believe the camera is great. Looks like the size is just right and he windows phone 8 seems refreshingly different. But also heard their apps store is a concern. I am really inclined towards this more than any other smart phones in the market. A little skeptical about shifting to a different OS.

Should i go for it? What are the pros and cons? Any feedback ?

Pls help :)

I've gone iPhone -> Android -> Windows Phone. Currently have a Lumia 920.

It's the best phone I've ever used. The camera blows away anything else on the market (apart from the 808). The hardware is excellent, extremely well made. The OS is a real pleasure to use. All the main apps I need are there.

The main question is, are there any apps on your iPhone you can't live without? Check if they are availble on Windows Phone, and there's your answer.

I'm in a similar position to you Naveen having been with Apple for a number of years, and currently just bored of the iPhone and it's set up, even though I like my iPad and MacBook etc.

I've been looking at a Google Nexus, which is Android based. Maybe that's an option to consider?

After the disappointment of the iPhone 5 I went from 4S>Android (S3)>Lumia 920.

The first, most obvious thing, is that the Lumia is huge. The S3 is big but slim with it. The 920 is not slim and worse is very slippery - necessitating a case - which makes it even bigger.

However, the touch interface of the 920 is the best out there - the first phone (IMO of course) to not only equal but better the iPhone.

That said, I'm now back with an iPhone. Why? Simply because the main use for mine is email and the way it handles multiple email accounts is much less cumbersome than the competition (not as good as it could be but still better than everything else out there).

I've had one for a month or two, worse phone i've had.

So many bad bugs and design issues it's amazing.

For example, dust straight from the headphone jack into the forward facing camera (in 4 days) it's worse now

The same dust also buggers up the proximity sensor so when you're on a call you can't hang up because the phone still thinks its next to your face (black screen)

Mine bricked when doing an update, the list goes on an on.

I like windows phone so i went to a HTC 8x

This is the same, seriously when im back in the UK im using my iPhone 5 again, nobody beats the build quality and user experience.

It's a shame because i really like windows phone 8

I'm tempted by the 920 but a couple things are holding me back.

I've had an iPhone since they first came out, have held off the 5 as its no improvement over my 4s, looking around I suspect the 6 maybe earlier than expected. My guess work is based on the following.

Vodafone & O2 are going to be launching 4G networks in the near future, with Samsung and blackberry increasing into apples market share and both having a 4G option already apple really can not afford to miss out. Vodafone are apples largest global supplier of telecoms kit so would be very surprised to see apple wait for September and miss the party. All speculation of course but with disappointing take up on the iPhone 5 and recent press releases saying apple hasn't lost its mojo I would expect an iPhone 6 sooner rather than later so holding out to see if its worth it :)

I got one soon after the release date, and I must say, I've not had any of the issues mentioned by others up there ^^^

Maybe it's the luck of the draw? maybe I take 'extra' care of my phones lol

But this phone is at the top of my best phones ever, which includes iphones & Blackberrys.

I bought my wife a lumia 710 last year when it came out, as she needed a new phone... and I spent more time playing on that than I did on my own phone.
So when I heard about the upcoming 920 with win phone 8 I decided to wait.
And I'm glad I did.

The app store is a complete red-herring in my opinion. Sure people will always find 'something' that they used to like but can't get now, but I don't have 350,000 apps on my phone.
I've got a couple of games in the xbox live app, british airways, facebook/twitter etc, and a few other random ones. But I certainly don't find myself thinking 'oh I wish I had xyz'.

The camera is really very good, it was launched with a slight back focus (bug), which meant you could see the picture go very sharp, then back off a bit and take the snap. Very annoying, but that's been fixed with the latest update which I believe all new phones are shipping with anyway.

I have found it to be quite power hungry (as with all smart phones I guess), but having turned off all background tasks it'll last 2 days with average use, or 4 if I don't touch it (or 1 if I use it a lot! lol).

A lot of people said the wireless charging is a gimmick, but I actually find it very useful, just come in, phone on the 'side' and it'll charge... and it charges through the case too, which is very handy!
I also blagged myself a free wireless speaker too as one of the first 200 to order at launch, using NFC to connect and Bluetooth to stream it works very well.

If I have any frustrations, it's that EE don't support NFC payments yet, which is really annoying as I was looking forward to this feature.
Also there is no 'stop' button for the music, you can only pause it which means it's always in the volume menu... I've downloaded an app to stop the music now which removes it from the menu, but it seems like an obvious omission?!

Would I get another, yes I would, without a doubt and without second thoughts. I genuinely believe there is anything out there which suits me and I would prefer.

Apparently they're about to announce the successor to the 920 at some technology show soon, so that'll annoy me if it turns up too soon... I'll feel like an Apple customer if they do that ;)

You dont have any dust in the forward facing camera?

Every single user i've found with a 920 has this issue.

Ok, on a close up I have got a couple of small spots, but certainly not anything that I'm worried about

The other dust is on the surface! :D
I did read that a possible cause was the size of the gap between the screen and the body, and I have to say, mine is flush all round.
I'm not saying there isn't an issue as it's all over 'wpcentral', I'm just saying that I don't seem to have it as bad as some of the guys out there :)

No problems with mine, and I definitely do not take good care of it! Puts up with the constant temperature changes and humidity round these parts no problems too.

Thanks everyone. Your views were really helpful.

I guess most of you except Ric (which i think is valid) had positive things to say about it. I guess i will consider buying it.

Good idea to check the apps availability. How about TP forums? Is it there?

Good way to evaluate it.

Totally agree with you. Though i am crazy *** android i have heard good reviews about nexus. Will check it out.

I went Android >Iphone>Android>Iphone and have just changed to a Nokia 820.

Nicer user experience than any of them and like the email system. Syncs multiple calendars nicely, great screen, enough apps for me although the design isn't always as good as some of the ios apps.

Build quality is better than HTC or samsung IMO and just about equals the Iphone, feels solid but not quite as elegant.

no TP app though :(
